Today Jimmer Fredette wears a Converse shirt.

I hate getting my hopes up, but I just can't help it.  Here is Jimmer rocking a Converse t-shirt while making a visit to a school.

Jimmer Fredette wears some Converse shorts while playing basketball

YES!  Jimmer Fredette, one of the most well known prospects in the NBA draft is seen below rocking some Converse shorts.  This is exciting for a few reasons.

1. Converse, I assume, is talking to Jimmer, who is one of the most well known prospects in the upcoming NBA draft.

2. Converse still makes basketball shorts, so maybe someday in the near future we might actually get to buy a pair.

Now lets not get carried away, he was still wearing a Nike shirt,  socks, and most importantly shoes.  But I am still very hopeful that Converse will make a big splash in this years draft.

'S Friday Flashback: Converse A-Train

A few days ago I found a shoe that I had almost forgot about. I say almost because as soon as I saw it I was taken back to a wonderful memory of when I first saw the shoe. I am talking about today's Friday Flashback the Converse A-Train. It all kind of runs together, but I am pretty sure that these came out before the more popular Converse Cynch. I was in Indianapolis going to a Dolphins and Colts game when I found these in a mall. I bought up a pair right quick, except mine was in a white colorway, but you get the idea from this Red/White/Blue colorway.

I can't remember who posted these up on eBay but thank you for the pics and the memories. Just a few more days until the draft, but there is plenty of time to vote in the current poll at the top of the page...I'll wait...go ahead...thank you. Also follow us at Twitter, which I'll be updating while I am away.

Bobby Jackson Converse Ad.

Bobby Jackson was drafted in the 1997 by the Sonics with the 23 pick and was traded to Denver before the season began.   Jackson was one of three first round picks that Converse signed along with Brevin Knight and Jacque Vaughn.  Ron Mercer, also from the 1997 draft, would later on wear Converse in the NBA after previously wearing Converse at Kentucky.

I remember seeing this ad in a Sports Illustrated when it first came out, but I had forgotten about it until recently.  This was during the "Stay True" campaign during the time that all Converse basketball shoes featured the Chuck Taylor Ankle patch.

I love this ad because it's straight forward and it works well using the idea of less is more.  It's just Bobby Jackson sitting in a locker room with the tag line, "Is, Was, Will be."  While all three of players never went on to be stars in NBA, they've all expereinced long careers in the L.  I always love this time of year because the finals are coming and right after that we get the draft.  The draft is a chance every year for teams and company's to experience growth, potential, and youthful energy.  I am already looking forward to see who Converse will sign from this class.

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: Converse Spectre

I am dragging this morning, after a late night of the NBA Draft with a few games of Rook mixed in for good measure. Still no official word on who Converse has signed from this years draft, but hopefully something will come out soon. Today's Flashback is a clean and classic pair from the 80's. The Converse Spectre!

It is a pretty simple design, but would allow for a nice dash of color to be mixed in, depending on the colorway.

I really like the look that gives off, sort of like a low top shoe with a high shoe growing out of it. I hope that makes sense, at least it did in my head. Well that's it for today...at least the flashback, I hope to hearing something on the rookie front later on. Speaking of rookies, Derrick Rose went first in the draft and first in the poll here. With Michael Beasley, O.J. Mayo, and Kevin Love rounding out the top 4 in the poll. I hope to have a new poll up soon.

The Converse Blog: Converse Pro Team

I've been meaning to post this picture for a while now. I was trying to see if I could find any other shots, but I haven't yet. I am a huge fan of the color teel and all teel related colors. This Pro Team fits that description. These are probably just samples, all of the Pro Team colorways released this year have been pretty conservative.

Well that's all for today, not a whole lot, but I just wanted to give this colorway some coverage. The lead that Michael Beasley had on the poll has shrunk to only one vote in front of Derrick Rose and OJ Mayo is gaining ground too. I have seen where Dwyane Wade and OJ Mayo have been spending some time together in Chicago. Hopefully that will lead to OJ signing with Converse. It would be a dream to sign all three, only time will tell.
