Below is the Converse defCON, the upcoming team shoes for 2011-2012. As you can see on the heel they feature CBT cushioning. You can get a better look at the CBT the first picture from the Converse Open Gym. It looks similar to how the CBT was used on the Converse Drop Step.
I am very excited because for the first time in a number of years there will be Maroon, Orange, and Purple team colorways.
Now this is where I could use your help. If you know anyone on any team that would want to wear these shoes this season please contact me at conversencaa@hotmail.com. I do have a contract to sell the shoes. Well lets get to the pics.
Here are some pictures from a recent Converse Open Gym in Boston. You can kind of see the outsole and the CBT in the heel. In the second picture you can see what the heel area looks like with the square star logo hit.
Welcome to the Converse Blog's Friday Flashback. Today we get a rare look at a pair of Converse Player Exclusive basketball shoes. Today we get a look at Anthony Mason's Converse All Star Legend. He wore these while with Charlotte Hornets in the 1997-1998 season.
This happened to be the team shoe for that season also and it was based off of Converse Weapon. It also featured Converse React in the heel. In fact there were a limited number of shoes released in Celtics colors that replaced the Chuck Taylor signature with the signature of Larry Bird.
Below you find some pictures of the shoes and some pictures of Mason wearing them. You can see him going against the Jordan and Dennis Rodman.
Below is the Converse Star Player DL, a shoe that is currently avaliable on Converse.com in a low top version. Here is a Black/Black colorway of the mid top. I have only seen them on the Polish website NeoSport.pl, so I'm not sure if they will be releasing in the States or not.
Converse goes back into the vault and pulls out a new re-issued shoe, the Converse Star Trainer. This show has seen some re-issued in other Converse areas around the world, but now they've finally come home. You can get them in a Black/White/Gum or a White/Navy/Gum. At only $55 you really need to pick up a pair. You can get them on Converse.com
Check out the pics below.
Recently I posted a tweet asking if anyone had seen the Converse All American anywhere at retail, hoping that they actually produced a low top performance basketball shoe. It was supposed to be a summer release, but I hadn't seen it until today.
They good news is that they actually produced the shoe...the bad news is that the only place I've seen it is on BigShoes.com Which means they only have them in sizes 14,15, and 16.
If anyone out there sees any more places to buy them let me know. Hopefully these NBA ready shoes aren't on lockout from the other shoe sized fans.
Hello world and welcome to another edition of the Friday Flashback here at the Converse blog. Today we flashback to a time when Converse made an official NBA shoe and also performance low top basketball shoes. I love the suede toe guard area and the hit of color around the ankle is a nice touch.
What a happy day it was last week when I walked into the Converse store in St. Augustine, FL. I had just left my car where the USA Women's Soccer team had just finished off Brazil in amazing fashion. Then I walked into the Converse store and noticed something extremely rare, a Converse employee wearing basketball shorts. Knowing that they always try to wear products avaliable, or recently avaliable, in the store my hopes began to grow. It was only a matter of seconds until my eyes found these new basketball shorts.
They come in four color combinations and feature pockets, which come in handy, and draw strings around the waist. They also feature the recently adopted corporate logo for Converse.
They aren't online at Converse.com yet, so you'll have to keep emailing them or find a Converse store near you.
Converse has really been playing around with the classic Chuck Taylor over the last few years with some pretty interesting results. The latest is the Converse Remix. The remix features a textile upper and an EVA midsole for more cushioning then the normal Chuck Taylor.
Below is a colorway reminiscent the South Beach colorways Nike has been releasing. However these are only on Finishline.com and only in smaller sizes. The standard colorways are Converse.com come in a full range of sizes and half sizes.
Last week Converse hosted the 3rd Band of Ballers tournament. I was fortunate enough to connect Taylor McPherson aka TayTay_Fierce on twitter and you can follow her blog over here.
I recently attended the filming of MTV2 and Converses Celebrity
Basketball Tournament, Band of Ballers. The event was held at La Salle
Academy in Manhattan New York which happens to have a 100% graduation
rate. Their were 5 teams competing for the title. Team Taylor Gang lead
by Wiz Khalifa, Team YMCMB (Young Money Cash Money Billionaires) lead by
Lil Twist, Team Brooklyn lead by Matt and Kim, and Team Swell lead by
Chiddy Bang. Their were 2 original brackets and then a losers bracket
from the first 2 games. The winner of the losers bracket played Jim
Jones's team in their first game of the tournament. Which is ridiculous
because you're making the best team play the worst team so the odds are
completely stacked in one favor. (ed note: a nice reward for winning the first two Band of Ballers) The entire event was hosted by Sway
from MTV and DJ'd by DJ D-Nyce. So it was a celebrity basketball
tournament where none of the celebrities actually played in the games.
They were pretty much only there for show. Not that I can say I'm
surprised but I am on the other hand a little disappointed. When I asked
people why they thought Wiz Khalifa wasn't playing the response
unanimous that he must have been "in the clouds" and therefore unable to
take the court. However there was one celeb who actually stepped up to
the line so to speak, that celeb was Chiddy Bang. Chiddy Bang is new to
the rap scene and has a very original sound, you may know his song Never
Growing Up, which is mixed over MGMT's Kids. Chiddy Bang also holds the
record for the longest free style ever. He once free styled for 9 hours
straight. How do you even keep coming up topics for that long, and
things that rhyme at the same time, that takes seriously talent. I got
an official statement from Chiddy Bang himself on the tournament and it
will be attached below. So overall it was a great day, it was catered
with hot dogs and pretzels and italian ices, there's usually never food
at these things, and especially free food. I had a really great
experience and would love to go back next year. I also can't wait to see
the finished product air on MTV in the very near future, check you
local listing for times and dates and don't miss it!
Also check out some awesome pictures from StoneFace Photography
First is a picture of God Shammgod wearing his PE Star Player EVO
and the next picture is of Jim Jones wearing the new Converse Defcon. I
hope to get some more info on this shoe soon. You can also check out StoneFacePhotography.com for some of their other work.
Back in the day when Converse used to be an athletic shoe company they made shoes for wrestling. A perfect example would be the Converse Mat King which is featured today in the Friday Flashback.
This Mat King features a white/blue colorway with suede around the midsole. Check out the pictures below.
