Here is the Converse Pro Leather 2012 basketball shoe. You probably won't get a chance to buy it here in the States. But as loyal reader Aaron Johnson pointed out to me, it is up on Converse Argentina website. If you happen to know anyone in Argentina that can hook you up, you might be able to get your feet in these. Speaking of Argentina, Men's Olympic team has 4 players wearing Converse this year.

The first pack features colorways inspired by the Dolphins, Vikings, Redskins, Steelers, Falcons, and Cowboys.

March Misses Converse - Charles Barkley at Auburn
I started the Converse Blog back in 2007 to try and drum up support for Converse to return to the NCAA. Despite a flirting with WKU and a few years with Marquette, Nike has refused to grow Converse basketball. I can't put it any other way, March Misses Converse, and Converse fans miss seeing the Star and Chevron on the court.
Save Converse Basketball!!!!
So here are some backgrounds for all of you Converse fans, give them a click and you can get that background size.

Converse Auckland Racer Remix plus a Challenge
Today boys and girls I give you a challenge. Help me wake this sleeping giant and buy the shoes Nike probably doesn't want to you buy. Okay, so that might be a little dramatic...However, I feel like the main reason Converse isn't as successful as an athletic performance shoe company is because Nike doesn't want to them to be.
I understand growing as a fashion/lifestyle brand is important, but you can have both. Timberland is a perfect example of a company that hits on the both the fashion and performance side. It can be done.
Which brings me to the Converse Auckland Racer Remix, a performance leaning update to the classic Auckland Racer. It was my understanding that this shoe had been canceled as an American release, so I was shocked when they showed up on Converse.com
So here's my challenge, buy this shoe and show Converse and Nike we want performance shoes from Converse. Show them that we want to wear Converse while playing something other than a guitar. At only $65 pick up a few pairs and put them away for the summer, or surprise a friend or loved one with the gift of Converse. Pick up your pair today!!!!

The Converse Blog Makes the Case for Big Baby
Thank you for stopping by this special investigative report from The Converse Blog. Today we examine evidence that would seem to suggest that Glen "Big Baby" Davis has joined Team Converse. There has been no official announcement, therefore all of this evidence could turn out to be nothing more but a Converse coincidence.
So I will be making my case to you this afternoon with visual evidence. Exhibit A has already been introduced, which is the picture of Big Baby with Rondo last week wearing a Converse shirt.
Exhibit B:
Why this is good evidence: Big Baby is seen below at one his charity events wearing a the Black Monochrome Chuck Taylor Ox. Usually players wear their sponsors to events, but not always.
Why this is bad evidence: Lots of NBA players from the likes of LeBron James, Amare Stoudemire, Blake Griffin, and Kevin Durant have been photographed wearing Chucks, and unfortunately none of them wear Converse in the NBA. Also he's wearing Nike socks.
Exhibit C:
Why this is good evidence: Big Baby is seen signing autographs on a Converse backpack for students. Also you can see someone holding a bunch of them so it's not just this one kids' backpack in the picture. This picture, along with the Exhibit B were taken at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library's event “Score Big with Books.” Unlike other cities like Atlanta, Converse has not had a strong sponsorship presence in Baton Rouge. The only direct link to the event for Converse would be through Glen Davis.
Why this is bad evidence: Converse has been known to work with events that do not directly feature Converse athletes, so this could be jumping the gun a little.
Exhibit D:
Why this is good evidence: Below is a grainy screen capture of Big Baby working out with his trainer. You can however see clearly that he is wearing a Converse t-shirt. It's not just any Converse t-shirt it's a I Chevron Star Boston T-shirt.
Why this is bad evidence: This piece of evidence might be lacking in power. For starters Glen is simply wearing a t-shirt sold at Converse's Boston store, anyone could buy that and wear it working out. Also you can't make out what shoes he wearing, but there is nothing that screams Converse about them. Plus he's wearing Jordan shorts.
Why this is good evidence with a counter point: True, but have you tried on any of the current Converse tiny man t-shirts? For Big Baby to have that much room in one of those t-shirts it's got to be a 6XL. Converse's biggest shirt in their stores is a 3XL, and it's the same size as a normal XL, therefore this has to be a special made shirt for Big Baby directly from Converse.
Exhibit F:
Why this is good evidence: I've saved the most compelling evidence for last, the cardboard cut out. Below is a cardboard cut out presented again at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library for their "Score Big with Books" campaign. Big Baby is seen below wearing the Converse defCon performance basketball shoe. As previously stated, athletes wear Converse Chuck Taylor's around all the time, but usually not their performance basketball shoes. Plus he's wearing it for a promotional event, this seems pretty convincing to me.
Why this isn't good evidence: This might not be the jury turning evidence that it's being made out to be. During last off season Chris Bosh was videoed training while wearing Adidas basketball shoes, but when it came time for media day and the season he was back in Nike. This doesn't prove anything.
Closing argument: Honestly none of these piece of evidence alone are prove of Big Baby signing with Converse. However, I feel pretty strongly that these are much more then simple coincidence. I think the combined evidence is over whelming in favor of Big Baby signing with Converse. However, it is quite possible that Converse has been courting Big Baby and that he hasn't signed yet, or maybe not at all. I guess we'll just have to wait for official word from Converse...or as is more likely the case, just see him wearing Converse next season.
You be the judge, let me know what you think? Is Big Baby with Team Converse or I am just wishfully thinking.

Glen Davis joins team Converse?
Our friends over at CeltKicks.com posted this picture up on their website last night. It features Rondo and more importantly Glen Davis rocking at Converse t-shirt. Glen showed up to lend his support to Rajon Rondo at the dedication of a refurbished basketball court at Malcolm X Park.
There as been no announcement from Converse, but hopefully Davis will be rocking the Star and Chevron if and when the NBA season tips off. Plus it would be nice to see him do that in Celtic Green.
Davis joins Jimmer Fredette as NBA players seen wearing Converse shirts this off season...hopefully Nike and Converse is willing to spend some money to upgrade their roster of players. You'd think after doing 2.4 Billion in sales last year Nike and Converse could spend a little bit on signing some new players to grow team Converse. It worked out well in signing JJ Barea just saying....or gasp, even spending some of that money to return to College Basketball, especially if there is no NBA season.
Okay, I just stepped off my soap box haha. As always if I hear anything new on this issue I'll be sure to let you know.

Friday Flashback: Converse Overtime
Today's Friday Flashback is the Converse Overtime. The Overtime was a basketball shoe released sometime between 2001 and 2003, probably towards the end of 2002. This was a released during the time between Converse's bankruptcy and purchase from NIKE. The Converse motto at the time was SHINE. Anyone remember that? Just wondering.

Converse CT Remix South Beach Colorway
Converse has really been playing around with the classic Chuck Taylor over the last few years with some pretty interesting results. The latest is the Converse Remix. The remix features a textile upper and an EVA midsole for more cushioning then the normal Chuck Taylor.
Below is a colorway reminiscent the South Beach colorways Nike has been releasing. However these are only on Finishline.com and only in smaller sizes. The standard colorways are Converse.com come in a full range of sizes and half sizes.

Converse SICKS - New colorways.
Update: Later on in the day Converse posted up two more team options and the Black/Gold colorway from the World Basketball Festival.
While we still haven't seen some of the teased colorways of the Converse SICKS from the world basketball festival...or a full run of team colors (that's another story)...Converse has finally released some exciting colorways of the Converse SICKS. The shoe that was originally designed to be Dwyane Wade's 6th signature shoe. Check out the fun colorways below and pick up a pair at Converse.com
It's been a rather frustrating few weeks and had the highs of convincing a middle school to buy 47 pairs of the Converse SICKS only to find out that we couldn't order 11 of the pairs because Converse didn't have the sizes. Now that team is wearing Adidas and I lost out on a major sell. So I took a few weeks off from the blog because, as you can imagine, I was pretty upset. I'm not over it yet, but what can I really do about it.
But you have to wonder, why would Nike want competition from Converse when they can sell their shoes at a higher profit margin? These are some of the same concerns I had 7 years ago when Nike bought Converse.
Anyway, at least we finally have some fun colorways of the SICKS to pick up.
