Converse Pro Leather 2012 Basketball Shoe

Here is the Converse Pro Leather 2012 basketball shoe.  You probably won't get a chance to buy it here in the States.   But as loyal reader Aaron Johnson pointed out to me, it is up on Converse Argentina website.  If you happen to know anyone in Argentina that can hook you up,  you might be able to get your feet in these.   Speaking of Argentina,  Men's Olympic team has 4 players wearing Converse this year.

March Misses Converse: Terry Black and the Baylor Bears

The 1999-2000 Baylor Bears were the last Converse team to wear the Chuck Taylor name.  This was during the time when Converse was using the Chuck Taylor patch on their performance line.  One must wonder what Chuck Taylor would think of Converse basketball today...

Without question the best player on that Baylor team was Terry Black, check him out below.  Those shoes he's rocking had React Juice II

Sean Woods at Kentucky - March Misses Converse

Mississippi Valley State head coach Sean Woods knows a thing or two about Converse Basketball and Converse in March.  While playing at Kentucky he wore the Star and Chevron as you can see below.  Maybe we can get him to switch back to Converse for next season.

March Misses Converse - Charles Barkley at Auburn

I started the Converse Blog back in 2007 to try and drum up support for Converse to return to the NCAA.  Despite a flirting with WKU and a few years with Marquette, Nike has refused to grow Converse basketball.  I can't put it any other way, March Misses Converse, and Converse fans miss seeing the Star and Chevron on the court.

Save Converse Basketball!!!!

So here are some backgrounds for all of you Converse fans, give them a click and you can get that background size.

Converse Pro Leather EVO OX

For three years now Converse has left their fans wanting more.  It started with the Weapon EVO Ox, then the Star Player EVO ox, and now the Pro Leather EVO ox.  Shoes that NBA players have worn and Converse has promoted in their sales catalogs, at Converse Open Gym events...heck even these beauties were featured in NBA 2k12.

Yet the scheduled release date has come and gone with no sign of the shoes worn by JJ Barea, Maurice Evans, and Carlos Arroyo.  I hope I am not blowing anyone's mind when I say this, but we can't buy shoes you won't even attempt to sell us.  Hopefully they've been pushed back for a later release, but I am not counting on it.

However, they did surprise me with the release of the Auckland Racer Remix, so who knows.

As for these pictures, I got them from Converse Philippines' facebook page under their new releases of the week.  So now I am officially jealous of Converse fans living in the Philippines.

Chris Andersen Converse Pro Leather 2k11 PE

Finally NBA is here and with that comes a first look at Chris Andersen's Pro Leather 2k11.  I am not really sure what happened with the blue, it doesn't really match the Nuggets at all.  Hopefully by the time the season actually starts they will have this corrected.   If he played for the Warriors these would be perfect though.

Glen Davis Offically with Converse

As was reported here earlier this year, it looks official that Glen Davis has signed with Converse. Hopefully he's just one of many new additions to Team Converse this season.  Below is a screen grab from IamBigBaby.com.  Look for Davis in either the Converse DefCON or Pro Leather 2k11 when the NBA season tips off.

JJ Barea gives us a preview of the Pro Leather 2k11 Ox

During the Pan Am games that Puerto Rico won our man JJ Barea busted out the new Converse Pro Leather 2k11 Ox (or EVO for the ox version, not sure yet.)  This is a shoe that will hopefully make it into production in the spring.  Here's hoping it doesn't go the way of the Weapon EVO ox and Star Player EVO ox, which neither made to retail.

The blue area on the bottom of the shoe is CBT tech, Converse Balls.  While the white areas pays tribute to the original traction pattern of the Pro Leather.

Hurry up and end the NBA lockout so we can see Converse on the courts!

Converse DefCON: a closer look

After what seems like a million years, we finally get a closer look at the new Converse DefCON.  If you been following along with me you know that this shoe has a special place in my heart, and my pocketbook.  However, it doesn't matter know as teams needing Maroon, Orange, Green, or Purple colored basketball shoes will once again be deprived the opportunity to wear Converse this season.  But there are still the basic 5 team colorways of the DefCON coming out, Black/Black, White/Black, Navy/Black, Royal/Black and the Red/Black pictured below.

There is a lot going on here so lets jump right into the shoes.  After the success of the Star Player EVO, Converse has brought back the CONtain Fit Technology system for this shoe.  The most obvious use of this technology is in the direct-inject EVA foam cage surrounding the shoe.
It's used to decrease the overall weight of the shoe, but giving it the protection it needs to stand up to a season.  As you can see this cage goes from the upper directly into the midsole.

In the third picture you'll see the Converse Ball Technology, with a a familiar neon yellow color that reminds me of REACT Juice.  In the fourth picture you can see the continuation of lacing loops into the shoe that tighten as you tighten the laces for a better fit.  The tighten around the inner booty.

I haven't got to play in them yet, but I hope to soon.  I wanted to get some new pictures to you as soon as I could.  Hope you enjoy!  I also hope to see this on some NBA feet before too much longer.

Converse All American Mid Royal/Black Colorway

Below is the Converse All American in a Royal/Black colorway.  I'm guessing this colorway was canceled in America, which seems to be the norm these days.  I think it's pretty hard to sell basketball shoes when you don't really offer any for people to buy, but I guess I am crazy for that type of thinking.

Big up to Aaron Johnson for sending me this my way, as it looks like these are actually avaliable in Mexico.  So if you're a real fan of this colorway you'll have to go hunting south of the boarder.

Converse Star Player EVO new colorway

Below is a new colorway of the Converse Star Player EVO.  I am not sure if these actually made it into production or not, I guess time will tell.  I know there are people still trying to find these fantastic shoes from last year.  There are a few other colorways floating out there too, I'll try to post them up next week.

Lou Williams Converse DefCON Player Exclusive

Team Converse member Lou Williams was out hooping in the Battle of I-95 last night for Team Philly who got the win over Team Melo, that featured Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, and LeBron James.  These are the shoes that Lou played in last night, the new Converse defCON in a White/Red/Blue player exclusive colorway.  You can also see a black/black colorway in the first picture.

The second picture is from Tony Manfred who has a great recap with pictures over here, check it out.

Thursday Throwback: Converse in the NCAA aka Louisville Hate Day

Around Kentucky and all other places in the BBN, Big Blue Nation for those of you that don't know, today is Louisville Hate Day.  This is one of my all time favorite holidays as it signals the nearing Kentucky vs Louisville football game.

However, Louisville isn't all bad, historically speaking.  There was a time before Ricky P that Louisville was one of the teams sponsored by Converse.  That was back in the day when Converse wanted to promote their basketball products and used college basketball teams to showcase their shoes and later jerseys.  Anyway, I thought it would be nice to show off what that used to look like and I found a great picture with U of L players wearing the Converse Springfield and Dr. J 2000 along with some other React shoe that I can't identify.

This picture is the only picture I want to see Louisville celebrating in for a long long time.  Happy Louisville Hate Day and Happy Thursday Throwback.

Friday Flashback; Converse Magic Johnson Energy Wave shoes.

Back in the day Converse created a Magic Johnson sub-brand that had shoes and apparel.  Each item used the Magic logos you see on the tongue and the side of shoe.  Below is a Black/Pink colorway of one of the shoes.  I am not quite sure which shoe this was, this is the only colorway I've seen of it.

The shoes featured the Converse energy wave technology that they used across their performance lines.

First Look: Converse All American Mid

Welcome to the Converse Blog where today we have our first look at the Converse All American Mid in a Black/White colorway.  At first glance you may confuse this for the Converse sicks that came out last year, but the upper different.  However, they do still feature that great full length Balls technology.  There were other colorways in the Fall catalog, but we'll see if they actually make them or not.

You can pick these up at Holabird Sports!

Big thanks to The Converse Blog reader Aaron Johnson who brought these to my attention.
