JJ Barea gives us a preview of the Pro Leather 2k11 Ox

During the Pan Am games that Puerto Rico won our man JJ Barea busted out the new Converse Pro Leather 2k11 Ox (or EVO for the ox version, not sure yet.)  This is a shoe that will hopefully make it into production in the spring.  Here's hoping it doesn't go the way of the Weapon EVO ox and Star Player EVO ox, which neither made to retail.

The blue area on the bottom of the shoe is CBT tech, Converse Balls.  While the white areas pays tribute to the original traction pattern of the Pro Leather.

Hurry up and end the NBA lockout so we can see Converse on the courts!

Converse in NBA 2K12, Magic in Weapons!!!!

Do you often wonder what it would be like to see Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Converse working together again?  Me too.  I can't imagine why Nike hasn't forced the issue to mend whatever fences need mending.  But alas there is a slight ray of hope, in the wondering world of NBA 2K12 you can see Magic Johnson wearing the classic Converse Weapon and Dr. J wearing the Pro Leather.

Hopefully this means the rest of the game will feature the classic shoes that the legends played in.  So while we just saw the Dr. J Pro Leather's, we still might be a few years and dollars away from seeing a Magic or Bird edition Converse Weapon.

LSU Coach Les Miles goes crazy in some Converse Weapons.

A few months ago ESPN's Scott Van Pelt mentioned getting Les Miles some Magic Johnson Converse Weapons.  Turns out he actually sent him a pair and well Les being Les decided he would make a video about it.  Hope you enjoy!

Converse Weapon 86 Year of the Rabbit

While Weapon releases stateside have pretty much stopped, the Weapon 86 is going strong in China. For evidence look no further then the Year of the Rabbit Weapons pictured below.  You can see the Rabbit logo on the tongue below in the 2nd picture.  The mostly black upper gives way to a translucent midsole giving way to a red and black pattern.  Check it out below.

Thanks for checking out the blog and remember to follow along on twitter @TheConverseBlog and on Facebook too.  Also I'm still taking submissions for an upcoming post, what would you do if you ran Converse for a day. I've gotten some really great responses and I'm looking forward to some more. Hit me up at ConverseNCAA@hotmail.com with your ideas.

'S Weapon Wednesday: ConverseOne Weapon Ox

So I was playing around on ConverseOne last night and I came up with a few designs that I thought I'd share with you. If you don't already know, the Converse Weapon OX is now up and live at ConverseOne.com.  First up is the Converse Weapon OX Wyoming colorway, which is inspired by one of my favorite color combos in all of sports.  That combo belongs to the Wyoming Cowboys!  I was so hoping that they could've pulled off the huge upset over Texas last week...oh well they'll have to settle for some love from the Converse Blog.

I'm not really a Raiders fan, I am actually a Dolphins fan.  However, I couldn't make a Dolphins colorway on ConverseOne so I had some fun and gave some love the Black Hole in Oakland.

Here is my DA BULLS colorway. There is nothing like a straight black shoe with a hit of Red in the Y-Bar, at least that's what my mother always told me.

Last but not least, is my Coach Cal colorway.  As you know I'm a hardcore Kentucky fan, so I thought I'd give our new coach some love with his own Converse Weapon colorway.

That's it for today.  If you've got any ideas for a new poll send them my way.  Don't forget to follow along on twitter @TheConverseBlog.  Thanks for checking out the blog.

'S Weapon Wednesday: Converse Magic Colorway Purse

I don't really think much of Purses, you know being a male and all, but when I saw these I thought they were pretty cool. I found these up at Converse.ES which the Converse Spain's website. They've taken the classic Magic colorway of the Weapons and made it into a purse.

That's it for today, thank you for checking out the blog and remember to follow along on twitter!  @TheConverseBlog.

'S Weapon Wednesday: 90's Weapon Hi

Welcome to The Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday!  I've been sitting on these Weapons for a couple of months now but I just couldn't hold back any longer.  At some point in the 90's Converse released the Weapon's again.  The upper looks, for the most part, exactly like the Weapon of the 80's.  What really sets these apart is the midsole and I assume the outsole is different too.  On the midsole there is a Converse branding hit near the toe cap area of the shoe.  Then in the heel area of the midsole there is a purple section that travels up from the outsole.  You'll see what I am talking about below...

That's it for today,  still no word on any of the rookie shoe contracts so stay tuned.

'S Weapon Wednesday: Weapon Skate White-Oasis

Welcome to the Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday. Today's Weapon is a current model of the Weapon Skate. You can find it over at Eastbay. I am a big fan of the white and Oasis colorway, mainly because I've never seen this Oasis color and I think I like it.

Sorry for the lite post today, but I am actually out of town for a few days I'll be in Lexington for a few days hanging out with my college roommates who are about to move away. Then I'll be in Louisville this weekend and the beginning of next week for the Southern Baptist Convention. I am looking forward to a very interesting week.

'S Weapon Wednesday: The Weapon is up at ConverseOne

Finally it is here, the Converse Weapon is up and waiting for you at ConverseOne. I say finally because it was first previewed way back when the Pro Leather was put up at ConverseOne. By the way you can't find the Pro Leather's on ConverseOne anymore, I hope they aren't gone for good because they were great. But that's another rant for another day. Today is all about the Weapon, which currently is only available in the Hi version. I've got a pair coming my way, but I thought I'd go ahead and post some of the designs I came up with.

The available colors are limited, especially apart from the ankle, Y bar, and laces.  What the Weapon lacks in color options it makes up for that in the personal ID section.  For the Weapons you get a whopping 15 characters for you to personalize.  Here are some that I designed with the finals in mind and some of my favorite colleges.

Now you can Choose your own Weapon!  Thanks for checking out the blog!  Remember to vote we're in the last day of the current poll!

'S Weapon Wednesday

Welcome to the Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday.  Today I have a real treat for you, an OG team colorway of the Weapon.  This is a rare colorway for sure, a white/Yellow high top straight from the 80's.  Also I want to give a shout out to Fernando Berdones, these pictures and shoes are his.  I also hear that he has a lot of other vintage Converse, so I hope to bring you all some more heat from him soon.

These just look weird with out the purple we're used to seeing with the yellow.   Well that's it for today, but I want to remind everyone about Rodney Rodgers on TNT tomorrow night.  For those of you that don't remember Rodney finished up his playing career wearing Converse.  Last November he was in a dirt bike accident that has left him paralyzed from the shoulders down.  Thanks for checking out the blog!

Charles C. MaGalls vs Dwyane Wade.

A lot has been made about Charles Charles MaGalls quest to battle Dwyane Wade one on one...well his quest is over, well maybe.  See how it turns out for yourself.

As you can see Charles Charles MaGalls didn't wear the Wade 4 like he told me in his interview, which I think was probably a good thing.  He wore the Weapon EVO and I can't say for sure what Dwyane is wearing, but I can say that they look really good.

'S Weapon Wednesday: Plus Dwyane Wade to play in Chucks tonight.

Sorry for the later post today. I've been enjoying Coach Calipari Day here in Kentucky. If you haven't heard, Calipari accepted UK's offer of 8 years and 31 million to coach the Wildcats. It's a great day to be a UK fan that's for sure. I am so fired up for next season, but I am even more excited for Football season that really kicks off today with the first Spring practice.

Anyway, you don't come here for UK sports, so lets get going with today's Weapon Wednesday. These Weapons just popped up on TaoBao and are one of the better Chinese exclusive Weapon's I've seen in a while.

There is a lot going on with these shoes but I am sucker for Neon Yellow and Teal on anything so I am digging these.  Not really a fan black as a main color for a shoe, but it really helps to bring out the colors I mentioned above so it works really well here.

Some late breaking news, I just got word that Dwyane Wade will be wearing Chuck Taylor All Stars tonight, at least to start the game.  From what I've heard Dwyane Wade lost some kind of wager with Udonis Haslem and whoever lost had to wear some Chucks in tonight's game.  Hopefully I can post up some pictures tomorrow.

Thanks for checking out the Converse blog and Happy New Month!

Kirk Hinrich and Alando Tucker give us a preview of the future of Converse.

Kirk Hinrich and Alando Tucker have been the two Converse players that have been rocking the most heat this season.  Alando's Converse Assists have been some of the better colorways of the team shoe.  Although Kyle Korver has been a close second with his Road colorway.  Kirk Hinrich has been wearing the Converse 0100 since he came back from injury.  His Black/Red PE of the shoe has been nothing short of amazing.  Last night they both broke out one of the new shoes from the Fall line up. These pics are showing up pretty small, so for larger pics check out sports.yahoo.com/nba and search for Hinrich and Tucker in the pictures.   First pics, then info.

Tucker and Hinrich are wearing the Converse Weapon Evo, a modern, performance basketball shoe evolved from the original Weapon, one of the most iconic on and off-court shoes of all time. The Weapon Evo will launch in energy, inline and team colorways beginning in August.

So there you have it, if you were watching close enough during All Star weekend you saw Jameer Nelson wearing a pair while helping Dwight Howard in the Dunk Contest.

Thanks for checking out the blog, and have a happy March Madness Day!

: Converse Weapon 86

We've seen the pictures of the Weapon 86 for months now but they're finally online.  While they were up at Converse.com the other day they've since been removed, what's up with that?  Anyway, you can find them at other online retailers.  One of them is Classic Sports Shoes, you can find the Weapon 86 here and here.  Which is where I got these pictures from, so head on over there and pick up a pair or two.

The shoes made famous in the 80's by Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and a multitude of other NBA players and college teams, can be yours.

'S Weapon Wednesday: Lady Weapon.

In recent years we've seen Converse use the Weapon as a base for some other shoes, like the Weapon Skate and the Poorman's Weapon.  Later on this year we'll see them do it again with the release of the Converse Lady Weapon.  This picture comes from Schroeder + Schoembs.  I see a lot of potential with this version of the classic Converse sneaker.  Hopefully I'll have some more information and colorways to pass your way soon.

'S Weapon Wednesday: Weapon 86 Knicks Colorway

Crazy day here in Kentucky.  A strong line of thunderstorms just swept across the state like a firm pimp slap.  I watched it rain in 3 different directions.  Then we lost power, then the power came on and then the TV went out.  Oh, and I couldn't find our battery radio or our War of the Worlds crank radio, thank you Tom Cruise.  Needless to say it was pretty crazy.  Speaking of crazy, these new Converse Weapon 86's are just that.  You can them in a very nice Blue/Orange Knicks inspired colorway.

Sorry for the late post today, I had to keep up with some crazy 5th graders.  Besides the F'bomb and sneaky cell phone use, it was a rather pleasant day all around.  Thanks for checking out the blog, enjoy the weather where ever you are!

'S Weapon Wednesday: Steelers Weapon

I've got to be honest, I was pulling for Arizona in the Super Bowl.  However, this wasn't like last year where I hated one team.  I actually like Pittsburgh, but I had to cheer for a team that hadn't won a championship in 61 years.  Well we all know what happened, and it ended up being a great football game.  So to honor the 6 time Super Bowl champs, today's Weapon's come in Pittsburgh Steelers black and gold.

As you can see these Weapons come with the ankle strap, which means that they're from Converse Korea.  Sorry steelers fans, unless you have some connections.  You'll just have to wait until the Weapons pop up on Converse One so you can design your own.

's Weapon Wednesday: Weapon Ox with Strap.

I was searching around on some of the international Converse sites and I came across these from Converse Korea.  Previously I have shown you pictures of Weapons from Converse Korea, most they have been mid top Weapons with Straps.  Today I found a Weapon Ox that came with a strap.  Here it is in White/Black colorway.

Thanks for checking out the blog, come back for Converse awesomeness.
