The Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday: Slim Weapon + Elton Brand update

You've seen Weapons and you've seen the Poor Man's Canvas Weapons....well if they mated you'd get today's Weapon Wednesday. I am calling these the Converse Weapon Slim, but that's just because I don't have an official name and that's the best I could come up with. These shoes are for those of you that like the look of the Weapon but don't want to feel of a basketball shoe. They're also for those of you that enjoy the Chuck Taylor mid-outsole but want a little more support for your ankles. Also these shoes are for everyone else, for various other reason.

If you remember back a few weeks ago when I posted pictures from Elton Brand's initial photo shoot with 76ers...go ahead think back. At the time I questioned if Mr. Brand was in fact wearing his own signature Converse shoe. Well it turns out that he will have his own signature and it will be sold at exclusively at JC Penny for $65. You can read more about it by going over to Dime Magazine. You'll also find a description of the EB logo, pretty cool.

Well that's it for today, thanks to checking out the blog and don't forget to vote on your way out.

The Converse Blog: Acie Law in the Converse Assist.

You know that saying, never count your chickens before they hatch? Well I am guilty of doing just that. On Tuesday of last week I was in Lexington hanging out with some of my friends that I hadn't really seen in a while. I had actually planed on coming home Sunday of last week, but I ended up staying longer. Then on Tuesday I got a call from one the teacher I did my student teaching with, and they just had a job open up for 6th grade social studies. So I went over on Tuesday and had a mini informal interview and came away with a real interview for Thursday.

So I had the interview on Thursday and it went great. I started putting the puzzle together in my head on why I should get the job. I knew the school and how it worked, it was really late in the summer so there wasn't that much time to find someone, and finally the way they talked to me. I was asked about a coaching position before anything about the teaching position, so I thought the signs looked good. Anyway, to make a long story longer, they went with someone else. I can surely understand, it's a fantastic school and anyone already in the school system would be crazy not to apply. So the job hunt continues!

Now lets talk about something more exciting, for everyone. Acie Law showed up for the Summer League games rocking the new Converse Assist. One of the new basketball shoes for the fall and also one of the new Team Shoes for this year as well. Here are some pics below, sorry for them being small...I'll try to fix that and edit this later when I have a little more time.

Here is a colorway, that's probably a sample, but it just gives you a closer look of the shoe Acie is wearing.

On Friday I reported that Maurice Evans had signed with Golden State....whoops so I jumped the gun on that and so did the report that I read. Actually it looks like he is going to, or has already, sign with the Hawks. Which means he goes from one team already with a Converse guy to another team with a Converse guy. But I love the Hawks colorways too, as you can see above. That's it for today, thanks for checking out the blog and voting in the poll on your way out!

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: Chucks' Golfer.

Good and happy Friday to each and everyone of you. It's been a crazy a few days for me and I am glad to get back to posting on the blog. I still can't say what went down, I just don't want to jinx it, but I hope by Monday that I can speak about it. Before we get to the blog I've got to post some bad news. If you haven't heard by now, Derrick Rose signed a contract with Adidas the other day. Now I don't know how serious a chance that Converse had to sign Rose, but I really had my hopes up. At the end of the day it has now been 17 years since Converse signed the #1 draft pick. This hasn't always been a bad thing (Kwame Brown), but I do hope it's a streak that can end next year. Now, let's get back to the blog and today's Friday Flashback.

Uh-hu, that's right. For those of you that didn't know, Converse used to make Golf Shoes. I don't know for sure how old these are, they come in a box that I've never seen before. One thing I love about these shoes is that they actually have "Chucks" in the name. I've never seen that before either. Enjoy the rest of the pics.

So that is what a Converse golf shoe looked like then, I'd love to see what one would look like today. Either way these are a gem and I hope you enjoyed them. Now to speak on the current poll. Maurice Evans recently signed a contract with Golden State, one of the teams that I didn't put in the poll. He was coming from that Orlando Magic, which already had a Converse player on the team in Jameer Nelson. So I should have put Golden State on the poll, ah you live and you learn. However, Boston looks to be pulling away a little bit from LA. Which only makes sense when you consider where Converse is based. That's it for today, thanks for stopping in and checking out the blog.

The Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday Brown/Tan/Orange

Hi all, welcome to the Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday. I know it seems like a really long time since we've had a Weapon Wednesday and I agree. That is why it's back today better than ever, well maybe. These leather Weapons in a Brown/Tan/Orange color are very nice and I hope you enjoy.

Well that's it today, I know I told everyone that I would make up for a lack luster Friday post but some personal stuff has been happening that's pretty exciting and scary at the same time. I don't want to say anything yet but I'll let you all know when I can. Don't forget to vote on the NBA team poll with Boston and LA in the lead.

The Converse Blog: Converse Double Double

Welcome to the Monday edition of the Converse Blog. I want to apologize for a skimpy and late Friday post. I was only focused on getting to see the Dark Knight and forgot all about posting. Hopefully I can make it up to everyone this week. I've been sitting on today's post for a while know, and then Zappos ended up putting up the shoes last week. So I figured it would be good to go ahead and show them to you. You can view more pictures and purchase them here.

Well that's it for today, thanks for checking out the blog. The poll is going pretty much the way I figured it would, but it's still exciting. Keep voting!

The Converse Blog: Converse Force 5

I love retro running shoes and recently Converse has been stepping their game up on these. Late last night the newest Converse running shoes showed up as Zappos Exclusive shoes. The first two colorways are the Black/Charcoal/Neon Red/Vaporous Grey and Phaeton Grey/Cloud Grey/Neon Green colorways. You can see more pictures and buy them here. After that there are 3 premium colorways. First up you can see a Black/Grey colorway followed by a Rum Raisin/Mocha Brown/Milk and Chocolate/Black/Milk. You can find more pictures and buy them here.

I know it's Wednesday, but I was so fired up that these re-issued runners that I had to give them some shine today. Also I finally posted up a new poll and I can tell that the Lakers and Celtics are way in the lead. Thanks for checking out the blog!

The Converse Blog: Elton Brand

So I leave on vacation for a week and Elton Brand signs with the 76ers. Then when I get home I see that Converse has finally publicly acknowledged that they signed Elton Brand, last year. However, it is only on one of their new Micro-sites. You can find it by going to the site It's Been Way Too Long. I won't spoil it for you, but it already has me fired up for next season.

This also fires me up, a potential Elton Brand signature shoe. It also could be a player exclusive colorway of a new Converse shoe. Either way it is a sneaker that I haven't seen before. At first I thought it was the 099 but then I actually looked at it and realized that it wasn't. Then I found these other views of the shoe the really got me excited.

Well that's it for today, I am off to try and find a job, so wish me luck. Thanks for stopping in and checking out the Converse Blog!

The Converse Blog: Converse Athletic Footwear!

This will be the last post while I am in Orlando.  I hope you've injoy what I've posted this week.  I know that it didn't have much content, but sometimes less is more.  Kind of like today's post, it's an old Converse sign that simply reads Converse Althletic Footwear.  The heart of this awaking beast is Athletic footwear.  Where ever competition was, Converse was there too.

The Converse Blog: Pro Trainer

Hello, this is the discount version of the Converse blog.  I am in Orlando right now and I am not sure what I am doing.  Perhaps I am trying sneak into the summer league games or maybe I am trying to get Micky in some Chucks for the Converse Century.  Either way the blog must go on.  These are the Converse Pro Trainers, and to the best of my knowledge they were never released here, but in a bunch of other countries.  Who knows they might make it here someday. Either way, I thought this colorway was pretty hot and I just wanted to pass them on to you.
