Louis Williams Converse SICKS PE

For me personally, the most exciting addition to team Converse this season has been Louis Williams.   He's been fun to watch and his shoes have been loud.  For example, below are some pictures of the blue and red colorways of the Converse SICKS.  Also the blurry image below is from Lou's twitter feed, @TeamLou23

Converse in the NBA

Here are a few pictures of Converse players in the NBA.  Unfortunately Acie Law was released by the Grizzles and I'm not sure if Chris Anderson has signed with Converse or not.  He wore Nike the next game and injured his back so I guess time will tell.  Enjoy

So there you  have it, 12 different NBA players wearing Converse at some point this Season.  Hopefully Acie Law can sign somewhere else before too long...The Knicks perhaps?  Anyway, stay locked on TheConverseBlog.NET for all of your Converse bloggy goodness.  Thanks for checking out the page and don't forget to follow along on Twitter @TheConverseBlog

Team Converse continues to Grow...Matt Bonner, Louis Williams, & Larry Sanders

Earlier in the summer we learned about Carlos Arroyo signing with Converse, but they weren't finished there.  Converse has also added Matt "The Red Rocket" Bonner from the San Antonio Spurs.  Bonner was drafted out of Florida in the 2003 Draft by the Bulls and was traded to the Raptors.  Later Bonner was traded to the Spurs where he has been playing since 2006-07.  You can see him below at media day and a preseason game rocking the Converse Team Assist.

Converse also added Louis Williams from the Philadelphia 76ers.   Williams was drafted in 2nd round the 2005 draft by the 76ers straight out of high school.  Williams had career highs in nearly all statistical categories last season.  You can see him below rocking a Player Exclusive colorway of the Converse SICKS.

Early in the summer there was some pretty solid speculation that Converse had signed Larry Sanders, their first rookie signing in many years.   Sanders was drafted with the 15th pick by the Bucks.  He was star at Virginia Commonwealth aka VCU, maybe he can help to get them to wear Converse someday.  Below Sanders is wearing the Converse Star Player EVO during the Bucks media day.

It's very exciting to see Converse finally grow their roster of NBA players, which had actually been decreasing in recent years.  There might be some other new additions to team Converse, but I haven't seen them yet.  If you see anyone else new, hit me up and let me know.  Thanks for checking out the blog.  As always you can follow along on Twitter @TheConverseBlog

Converse NBA Player Exclusives for Elton Brand and Kirk Hinrich.

Early in the year I made mention that I thought Alando Tucker and Kyle Korver would be battling for the best colorways of Converse this year.  I might have to eat some crow on that statement.  Recently Elton Brand and Kirk Hinrich took to the floor wearing some fantastic PE's.  EB rocked the Red/Black/White EB2, the closest you'll get to these is in NBA Live 10.

Krik Hinrich has been wearing the Low top version of the Weapon EVO since last years playoffs, however we haven't seen the Red/Black/White colorway that he wore against Miami the other day.  Don't get your hopes up for this particular colorway of EVO low, just hope that Kirk wears them more often.

All of these pictures came from Yahoo Sports and therefore Getty images.

Well that's it for today, thank you very much for checking out the blog.  If you like what you see tell a friend and leave a comment.  Also, you can follow along on twitter.com @theConverseBlog

Converse brings us Elton Brand's new signature shoe, the EB2!

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (October 22, 2009) – Good things happen in threes. The 2009-2010 NBA season marks three notable returns for 10-year NBA veteran Elton Brand and Converse. Brand returns healthy for his second season with the Philadelphia 76ers, Converse’s iconic Star Chevron logo is once again featured on basketball footwear, and Converse returns with another Elton Brand signature shoe called the EB2.

The EB2 is a follow-up signature basketball shoe from last year’s first-ever Elton Brand signature shoe, the EB1. After a successful year with the EB1, Converse again partners with JCPenney to offer an affordable performance basketball shoe for adults and kids.

“I grew up watching basketball’s greatest players wearing the Converse Star Chevron logo on the Weapon and the Pro Leather. To have this logo on the EB2 is a badge of honor,” said Elton Brand. “The EB2 is a great looking, affordable shoe that offers comfort and stability with the appeal of being a signature model. It’s my goal to stay healthy this season and showcase the EB2 with successful, solid time on the court.”

The EB2 is designed for basketball players who specialize in quickness, agility and versatility. The shoe is made of durable leathers for optimal support and features perforation in the toe box and midfoot, providing improved ventilation and comfort. The EB2 also includes speed lacing for a sleek look and a spat strap that provides additional lock down for enhanced support. The midsole is made of light weight EVA, while the outsole has multidirectional circle bone traction, forefoot flex groove and a decoupling heel for optimal ground contact when landing.

In addition to Converse’s Star Chevron logo, the EB2 features Elton Brand’s Converse logo, which was introduced at the start of last season.

The Converse EB2 is available now and retails for $65 in adult sizes and $50 in kid sizes. The EB2 is available exclusively at JCPenney locations nationwide and online at jcp.com and converse.com. It will roll out in three colorways this season including black/white/red, white/black/red and white/black.

About Elton Brand
One of the premier post players in the game since being selected as the first overall pick of the 1999 NBA Draft, Elton Brand returns for a second year as a Philadelphia 76er. A two-time NBA All-Star selection and the 2000 NBA Rookie of the Year, Brand averaged 13.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game during the 2008-09 NBA season. He was named the consensus college player of the year following his sophomore season at Duke University, where he led the Blue Devils to the NCAA Championship Game. The recipient of the 2006 NBA Sportsmanship Award, Brand also founded the Elton Brand Foundation in 2000 to help communities through educational and recreational opportunities.

's Friday Flashback: The Converse Mountain Club CMC 3000

With the temperature finally going above freezing today, I've had an urge to be outside and enjoy the warm sun beating down on my face.  Too bad for me I had to work today, like most of you probably had to do as well.  But tomorrow is shaping up to be an even better day, weather wise that is.  Which got me thinking about today's Friday Flashback.  These shoes are from the late 80's I believe, but with a unique Converse logo it is hard to be for sure.  What I do know is that they were designed to be used in the great outdoors, or the city streets which ever jungle you prefer.

As you can see these shoes look pretty similar to Chucks, which should come as no real surprise.  However, the midsole seems to be constructed in a more rugged fashion.  You can also see from the outsole that the traction pattern, if there is one, is nothing like what you would find on a pair of Chucks.  There is also a really nice rubber heel cup on CMC 3000 as you will see below.  The tag line on these shoes was, "When your heart longs for the hills and your feet live in the city."

You can't read it from this picture, but this is what is written below.
"Finally, a shoe that lets you be in two places at one time, follow your heart to the Converse Mountain Club.  Five high-styled canvas colors that live for the city and long for the great outdoors."

It's been a rough week for Converse, first Jameer Nelson goes out with a separated shoulder and will miss the All Star game and maybe the rest of the season.   Then Elton Brand shuts it down for the rest of the season with his shoulder as well.  This leaves only 7 active NBA players wearing Converse.  However, Marquette continues to roll on as the only undefeated team in Big East play.  Thank you for checking out the blog and for your continued support and comments.   Enjoy your weekends!

The Converse Blog: NBA Pics

Happy new Month to each and all. December marks the final month of the year long Converse Century celebration and I am willing to bet that there might still be some surprises in store for the final month. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and enjoyed a few days off from work. Without further delay lets get to the pics.

First we have a few different pictures of Elton Brand wearing the Converse EB1. It appears through the pictures I've seen that Elton has a hard time keeping the midfoot straps down.

Here is Dwyane Wade, who has been playing MVPish basketball, however he has been doing it while wearing his first Converse basketball shoe the Wade 1. Does anyone know why he hasn't worn the 4's yet? I haven't heard anything besides he doesn't like them, which is odd because overall I've heard more positive talk about the 4's than I did about the 3's. Oh well only time will tell.

Here is another question mark, Udonis Haslem wearing the Converse 099 which he has been wearing for during the 3rd different season now. I got really excited at media day when Udonis wore the 0100, but I still haven't seen them on an NBA floor yet. W

Maurice Evans has been switching between last years Converse Hops and this years Converse Assist. Until recently he has been wearing the Hops in his Orlando Magic colorway, which looked really out of place in a Hawks uniform. He finally got in a pair of Black/White Hops, but has been wearing a PE version of the Assist as pictured below.

So far this year Acie Law has wore three different Converse shoes, the Converse Attack, Converse Assist, and the Converse Wade Slash. This is a real tale of past, present, and future. The Converse Attack came out last year and I believe it was a Champs Sports exclusive, or at least that was the only place I ever saw them released. The Assist is a team shoe from this season which Alando Tucker and Kirk Hinirch wore before they got hurt, neither are pictured today. Finally the Wade Slash is a shoe coming out soon and I've heard a lot of positive response from the sneaker community so look out for those in the future. However, I only have pictures of him wearing the Converse Attack.

Here is Kyle Korver wearing the Converse Assist, I don't have many pictures of him because he has been out hurt also.

Finally we come to Jameer Nelson, who I guess technically isn't a Converse endorser. At least according to Converse.com and the EB1 press release. But he has been wearing the Converse Assist in both home and away colorways all season long. If anyone knows any more about this situation please email me, I can't seem to find anything out.

Well that is it for today, enjoy Cyber Monday and check back for more updates here at The Converse Blog.
