The Converse Blog: Jameer Nelson Media Day!

I love media day(s) in the NBA. New players in new Jerseys and you get to see whose switched shoe companies. Only a few pictures have released so far, but already things aren't looking so good. It looks like Kevin Love is with Adidas and I haven't seen any new players wearing Converse. Granted things can change, especially since the talk around this years group of rookies is that there just isn't as much money going around for endorsement contracts. To me this seemed like a perfect opportunity for a company like Converse to sign up a bunch of rookies for cheap and take their chances that some of them will turn into stars. Oh well, so far the only Converse I've seen has been on Converse players we already knew about. Like Jameer Nelson pictured below. He's rocking the new Converse assist, a team shoe from Converse. The assist will provide the most options for Player Exclusive combinations that you'll see on the courts of the NBA. I can't tell for sure if these are PE's for Jameer or just the general release of the assist, but I would expect some nice combos for all of the NBA guys.

Well that's it for today, I hope to have more pics from NBA media day(s) up soon. Don't forget to vote in the poll on your way out and thanks for stopping in to check out the Converse Blog.

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback Converse Title Taker

Don't worry, I didn't forget about today's post. I just didn't want yesterday's post to be on top for such a small amount of time. But it is Friday and the flashbacks must continue. Today's flashback only takes us back a few years, to 2003...at least I think. The problem with today's flashback is that I don't think these shoes ever released. If they did release I don't think they made to America. I do know that these shoes were named the Converse Title Taker.

For lack of a better term, the uppers appear to have a quilted pattern. You can see it the best on the black/black colorway. You will also see the use of the Chevron and Star logo in a monochrome colorway to match the shoes. Finally you can see in the Navy/White shoes a very interesting and unique outsole for a Converse shoe at this time, It is designed to look like a finger print.

Well that's it for today, I am off early heading to Louisville and then on to Lexington for the game tomorrow. Big time College football action last night with USC getting beat...I couldn't be more happy. Thanks for checking out the blog and don't forget to vote on your way out.

The Converse Blog: Elton Brand's EB1

I hope this makes up for yesterday's lack of a post. Recently in the new KICKS magazine the first pics of the Converse Elton Brand 1, or the EB1 surfaced. If you don't know, Elton signed with Converse last year, but due to his injuries he was only able to play a handful of games at the end of last season. During which time he wore a couple of Converse shoes, but this year he'll have his very own signature sure. In the online sneaker community the EB1's seem to be getting more positive responses than the Wade 4.0. Either way, I am sure glad that there is another signature sneaker coming out from Converse and I look forward to getting in a pair of the EB1's. Below are some shots of the Black/White Colorway, but mostly of the Black/Black/Red colorway. I do apologize for the tagged photos, but you can still see the shoes really well.

One thing I love is the use of the EB logo, it actually big enough to make out what it is. In fact, it might even be bigger than the Converse logo on the side of the shoe....well maybe not quite.

Before we go, sad news broke last night...it looks like Adidas has inked Michael Beasley. So far we've seen Adidas snag of Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley, and Nike has announced the signing of O.J. Mayo. There really aren't any rumors of other rookie shoe deals let alone confirmed signings. Signing Beasley would've been a gamble for Converse, so hopefully there are some other rookies out that Converse can sign. We know what happened last time Converse signed a large group of rookies, but only time will tell.

Thanks for checking out the blog, and remember to vote on your way out.

The Converse Blog: Pro Leather 1976 Sample and new Poll.

Not to push your week back or anything, but today is going to be my Monday for the week. Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, but hopefully I can make it up to you today with a wild sample you've never seen. These are a sample pair of Converse Pro Leather 1976. The best way I can describe these is Tropical Fruit Camo.

Also I just found out that my long term sub gig is coming to an end, sort of. The teacher I am subbing for is working his way back from hip surgery, and is starting back on Wednesday working half a day. Which means I get to go in for 1st and second block and then leave at 11:30. Of course I am only getting paid for half a day, but I am still excited to keep teaching.

Regardless, things should pick back up around here, which I am oh so excited about. To help kick things off correctly, I posted up a new poll last night for all of your voting pleasure. Also I'd like to speak on the info leaking out that Dwyane Wade is unhappy with Converse, but I am not sure how I feel about it. Honestly, I hope it's much to do about nothing but only time will tell. I'll hold the rest of my thoughts on that for now.

Well that's it for today, thanks for checking out the blog. Don't forget to vote on your way out!

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: Converse Pro Leather Suede Toe Cap

Sometimes even I am surprised by what Converse goodness I find while combing the world wide interweb. Today I am going to share one of those pleasant surprises with you. Recently I found an eBay auction for a pair of Converse Pro Leathers with a Suede Toe Cap. Flat out, these are sick, I can't really put it any other way.

I've never seen a pair like this before, I'd say they are somewhat rare. Well I am off to Bowling Green after school today. It will be so good to get out out of town for a few days and take in a WKU football game. It's not every year that a College football team in your state moves up to the Bowl Subdivision. Well I am out of here, thanks for stopping in!

The Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday

Hi all, welcome to the latest edition of the Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday. Today's Weapon is one of the Poorman's Canvas Weapons. These came out in Europe but I don't believe that they made it here. I must say that I really enjoy the use of the Teal Green and the dark green.
I am giving my first test today, so I am really nervous. It also means I'll be a little swamped the next few days grading these essays test. But it is pretty exciting none the less. I got an awesome idea for a new poll that I am going to try and post up before Friday. Thanks for checking out the blog!

The Converse Blog

Just like me, these pics are a little late. Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, it just completely slipped my mind. I also meant to post these pics closer to when they actually happened, but these are from Dwyane Wade Olympic Gold Medal celebration in Miami. The kids and Wade are rocking special Gold medal make up Wade Converse Shirts. Making use of Gold and Wade's number 9 that he wore in Beijing.

I don't know if any of these shirts will be for sale online or not...if they were going to be they probably would have by now. Either way, they're both pretty cool and those in attendance that day got a pretty limited edition t-shirt. Well that's it for Tuesday, but check back tomorrow for Weapon Wednesday!

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: Mesmerize

The Converse Mesmerize was the team shoe for the 2003-04 season. Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh both wore this shoe early in their rookie seasons. You can still find photos of Chris Bosh in his rookie photos wearing the black/black colorway.

As you can see this shoe hand an ankle strap and it also featured the simple Star logo. You can't tell from these photos but the silver logo tab on the heel could hold number cards to personalize for each player on the team. This would be the second straight team shoe to feature this personalization touch, but the other team shoe had Helium technology while these had no cushioning technology.

It's been a long week of the Progressive Era in one class and building towards the war of 1812 in the other two classes. So it should come as no surprise that I am so glad it's Friday haha. Anyway, have a great weekend, thanks for checking out the blog.

The Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday Hip Hop

Good Wednesday to you...and to you. Welcome one and all to the Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday. Today's pair comes from TaoBao and is probably either a sample pair or a china exclusive Weapon. Either way it's designed with Hip-hop symbols. You'll see a mic, turntable, mix tape, boom box, and some Krylon.

Well that's it for today... I haven't forgotten about a new poll, but then again I did sort of haha. Anyway, thanks for stopping in here at the Converse Blog.

The Converse Blog: Converse Wade Clutch

What a weekend, I was so excited for football season to finally kick off. But as it turns out, I didn't get much football action. Friday night I started to feel a little tingling in my throat so I decided not to go out to our local high school football game. My hopes were that if I rested my voice and took it easy Friday night that I'd be fine for the UK game on Saturday. As it turns out that tingle in my throat turned into full blown pain and cough. So needless to say I didn't make to the UK game Saturday night. Then, as if that wasn't bad enough, I woke up Sunday morning still with the sore throat but I also felt really weak. So I missed out on Church too. Then some new guy named Brett decides to beat my Dolphins. Wrap all of that up into a nice little gift box and put this bow on top....I can't miss a day of school because I don't have plans more than a day ahead, yet. Therefore I had no plans to leave for another sub today.

As you can probably imagine, I am so ready for today haha. Speaking of today, new pics of the Converse Wade Clutch. The white/black and black/black colorways can be seen below. I got these pics from this other Converse Blog.

Well I hope you enjoy these, I am pretty sure they're another Converse team shoe. However, they must be an exclusive to a store because they're not in the team catalog.

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: Classic Grandmama Back Jam T-shirt.

Well I made it through day one of US History, now if I can just make it through the rest of time haha. In one of the classes we're deep into the progressive era and the other two AP History classes we're just at the Jefferson presidency. With that in mind today's flashback features someone who was progressive for his position and wore a wig for Converse...see what I did there.

I found this stinkin' prime Grandmama shirt on ebay the other day. It is was made to promote the CONS Back Jam's. I always loved when she would hold down her hat when going in for that monster jam.

That will be it for today, I am still trying to get the hang of this new schedule I am trying to keep. Thanks for your continued support and feedback here at THE Converse Blog.
