Acie Law's shoe of Choice: Converse Attack, plus the Converse Blog on Twitter

I am guessing that you've all had time to read over the Charles Charles MaGalls interview a couple of times by now.  I never intended to skip so many posts, alas I did and here we are a week later.  But I've got good news, you can now follow The Converse Blog on Twitter, aka I gave into the trend, you can find it here.

I noticed that towards the end of game 3 in the Heat/Hawks series that Acie Law got some burn.  He missed a good number of games towards the end of the season with back spasms.  But when he did take the floor in game 3 he did it in the shoe that he's been wearing almost all season, the Converse Attack.  This was a shoe that came out last year in a mid and ox version.  Acie has been playing in the ox version, which if you're keeping count that's 2 Converse players that have worn low-cut shoes this post season.  Kirk Hinrich has been wearing the Weapon EVO ox.

This is a pretty straight forward shoe, but I think it's less is more approach pays off.  Too bad, I think this was a Champs excluisve last year, because that's that only place I've ever seen them.  I am looking for an idea for a new poll so sent them my way!  Thanks for checking out the blog.

Exclusive interview with Charles Charles MaGalls

We've got a great treat for you today.  I was lucky enough to get an exclusive interview with Charles Charles MaGalls.  Yes, Charles Charles MaGalls from MaGalls Industries Global.  He has challenged Dwyane Wade to a game of 1 on 1 and is pretty confident about his chances.

TCB:  I want to start off by thanking you for taking time out of your extremely busy schedule to do this interview with TheConverseBlog.com. Speaking of being busy, you’ve been all over the internets recently. Where do you find the inner strength to run a successful company and relentlessly challenge Dwyane Wade at the same time?

CCM: I am very talented. I find the inner strength I need from starting every morning eating an egg hard-boiled. It is good protein. Next question.

TCB: You’re obviously a very confident and ambitious person, how did you arrive at the decision to challenge Dwyane Wade to a game of 1 on 1?

CCM: The decision was a very simple one. Dwyane Wade is the best. I am better. Better hates the best. If you fail to understand this simple premise than I think you are a pant(y) waste.

TCB:  You’ve just woken up stranded on an island, which book, album, and movie do you wish you had brought with you?

CCM: What an interesting question, sir. As there is only one book I would want with me and that is “Obstacle Get Out Of My Way – The Charles Charles MaGalls Story.” Because it is fascinating. (http://www.magallsindustriesglobal.com/obstacle.htm). The rest of that question is stupid and irrelevant and I will not answer it because islands do not have electricity and if they did then why would I leave if I could run my empire there unless it was like that island on the television where the people are stranded and there is the ghost monster in which case I would want a movie that would teach me step by step how to build a boat to get off the island and if there is an educational musical album that accompanied the movie and taught me the same thing or navigation by stars so much the better.

TCB: We’ve seen your challenge to Mr. Wade on billboards, ads at arenas, social networking websites, and Youtube, but can we expect to see a national TV commercial?

CCM: Probably TV commercials. I am in talks right now to develop a Broadway Musical for my challenge. I think I will call it “Defeating Dwyane Wade to 10 by 1 Gotta Win by 2 – The Musical.”  My research and development team is looking in to “to 10 by 1 gotta win by 2” skin grafts that will soon be popular on the beaches of Miami. Of course, maybe none of these things as uncertainty is my sixth man, you see.

TCB: Has anyone ever said, Charles Charles MaGalls, the man so nice they named him twice? How does that make you feel?

CCM: No. I am fine with that.

TCB:  I’ve noticed that you’ve been at a few Heat games recently; can the fans expect to see you during the playoffs?

CCM: There is only one person that must see me and that person is Dwyane Wade. From what I heard he is seeing me often. I now hear he demands of team members in practice “Play to the level that Charles Charles MaGalls would play me” and “Dunk on me like Charles Charles MaGalls would dunk on me” and so on including “Revolutionize the sport of basketball like Charles Charles MaGalls revolutionizes the sport of basketball” and such.

TCB:  Seeing as how this is The Converse Blog, I’d be amiss if I didn’t ask you about your choice of footwear. I’ve seen you wearing some Jack Purcell’s and some Chucks; do you have a shoe picked out to wear when you finally get to play Mr. Wade?

CCM: I would like to defeat Mister Wade in pair of Wade 4.0s because it is what’s known as poetic’s justice. You see the shoes have Mister Wade’s name on them and in many ways it would be like he was dunking on himself and I imagine this new reality would make him sad and question his very worth on the basketball court.

TCB: If you could travel back in time and change one thing in history what would it be?

CCM: Agreeing to this interview.

TCB: On a lighter note, can you tell us some more about MaGalls’ Asphalt Kids?

CCM: A lighter note? Are you crazy?!?!?. The Asphalt Kidz are one of the most serious things in my life. As a friend of children everywhere and an enemy of Dwyane Wade in Miami it is my goal to make sure that these citizens of tomorrow become sworn rivals of Dwyane Wade today.

TCB:  It seems that Mr. Wade has been ignoring you, have you thought about buying Converse from Nike in order to get his attention?

CCM: Finally, a question of journalistic integrity!!!. You seem to understand the Charles Charles MaGalls psyche of always thinking one step ahead on the checkers board. That is the Charles Charles MaGalls way. We could use a man of you keen intellect at MaGalls Industries Global, Mister Martin. Perhaps you would consider employment?

TCB: We’ve seen your challenge to Mr. Wade on billboards, ads at arenas, social networking websites, and youtube, but can we expect to see a national TV commercial?

CCM: You asked me this question already. I rescind my offer of employment.

TCB:  Last question, if you’re fortunate enough to get a 1 on 1 game with Mr. Wade have you thought about what kind of trash talk you use on him? If so can you share any with us?

CCM: There is no fortune involved, Mister Martin. I will play Mister Wade. Mostly I will make fun of his losing to me by 7 or 8 points. Or I will make fun of his career high of 55 points. My research shows that in that very game I could have scored 61 points. That is at least 6 points more!!!. Or I will make fun of his freakishly tall height. You see Charles Charles MaGalls has many secret weapons that will make Mister Wade insecure as both an opponent and as a person. I am not afraid to play dirty.

Two things I want to make mention of...this was an email interview and I changed the order in which some of the questions were and I forgot to delete the TV Commercial questions from it's original location.  I didn't realize until I had already sent Mr. MaGalls the question.  I left it in here because his answer is classic, even if he did pull back a job offer to me.  My bad Mr. MaGalls I'd really like a second chance to earn your trust.

Secondly, my favorite question is the one about which shoes he would wear.  I am a man that enjoys some good irony and if he were to play him in the Wade 4's it would be the best thing ever. We all know that Dwyane never played in the Wade 4 but depending on how this plays out it could move a few more units of the shoe if Mr. MaGalls wore them in their game.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the interview and you can look for more coverage if or when Mr. Wade and Mr. MaGalls meet on the court.

Converse Golf...from China

It's been gone for quite sometime, but I recently found out that Converse Golf is back in business...in China.  Belding Golf has a licensing agreement to produce Converse Golf products.  They have a few different Golf bags, Drivers, Irons, Shoes, Clothes, and Balls.  I've got a few golf balls and a golf towl from back in the late 90's that I got at the original Converes outlet stores.  I only use those Converse balls when I putt.

I must say that I am really excited about this, but I am not exactlly getting my hopes for a return for Converse Golf here in the states.  Also I've got to say that the shoes look pretty generic and they don't exactly match the small pictures of the other shoes so who knows what they actually look like.  I am probably mosted fired up about the Drivers and Irons, they just need some woods, wedges, and putters to complete the set.

Dwyane Wade was rocking a special colorway of the Wade 1 last night, I've got some pics of the shoes coming my way and I'll post them up as soon as I get them.  Thanks for checking out the blog!

LeBron James in Converse!

I didn't get around to doing a Friday Flashback post yesterday.  By the time I got home from school I was having a busting headache that I needed to stop so that I could enjoy the Alan Jackson concert I was going to later.  With a heavy dose of meds and some head-on I was able to enjoy the concert without much discomfort, except from the lady that kept screaming as loud as she could right next to me.   Needless to say, I was taking it easy after a long day of dealing with 5th graders.
You know else was taking it easy the other day?  Yes you do, you clicked on this page and saw the title of today's post.  LeBron James was taking it easy and for the first time ever I actually enjoyed seeing him on TV.  Why?  Well it is because for the first time he wore Converse while on an NBA court, a pair of Chucks.  By doing so LeBron added himself to an impressive list of NBA players seen wearing Converse off the court.  This list includes, but is not limited to, Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire, Danny Granger, Kevin Durant, and Derrick Rose.

I tried to make the pictures bigger, but I couldn't make it happen without them getting more blurry.  Oh well enjoy the Playoffs this weekend, I really want the Bulls, Pistons, Spurs, Blazers, Magic, Heat, Jazz, and Hornets to advance, good thing those aren't actually my predictions.

'S Weapon Wednesday: Weapon 86 Box-o-awesome.

For the brief time that I watched the NBA while Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were playing, I was always a Larry Bird fan.  That's not to say that I didn't like Magic Johnson, who knows maybe it was the extra year that Larry played.  Despite my preference in players though, I had a stronger preference in which Weapon colorway I loved.  I am not sure why I loved the Purple and Gold Weapons, I just know that I did.  Part of the reason could be that my father never liked black shoes, therefore I never got black shoes growing up.  Anyway, every time a new batch of the Weapons have been released, I've always gone after Magic's colorway.  So you can imagine the thrill I got when a fresh box from Converse showed up on Monday.

I was really trying to get a shot that showed you how clean the purple suede is, but no matter how many pictures I take they just won't do them justice.  You really have to hold these in your hands to see how amazing they are.

I was going to get out my pair from the last time they released to show you the differences but I couldn't find them on a quick search.  However, I will tell you that these are closer to the original 1986 release and they feel amazing on your feet.  As if that wasn't enough the box also came with a fantastic t-shirt and wind breaker.  I had to alter the picture a little bit so you could see the Weapon 86 written under the shoes.  The shirt is dark ash, while the wind breaker is straight black.

Big thanks to Paul and the rest of the amazing staff over at Converse for the hook up and the continued support of The Converse Blog.  I got word from Charles Charles MaGalls that he's good for an interview with TheConverseBlog.com.  I am working on my questions right now so if there is anything you want to ask him shoot me an email at ConverseNCAA@hotmail.com.  Thanks for checking out the site, enjoy the rest of you Wednesday!

Converse Wade 1 Reissued!

Five-time NBA All-Star and 2006 NBA Finals MVP Dwyane Wade is currently having the best regular season of his career and is in consideration to receive his first-ever season NBA MVP award. The Miami HEAT Guard is currently leading the league in scoring (30.2 ppg), and registers in the top ten in assists (8th – 7.5 apg) and steals (2nd – 2.19 spg). He will also become the first player in NBA history to have 500 assists, 100 steals and 100 blocked shots in a season (NOTE: The NBA officially began to keep track of steals and blocks in the 1973-74 season).

To celebrate this historic season, Converse will reissue a limited amount of the WADE 1. The WADE 1 was first launched before the 2005-06 NBA season and was the first-ever signature shoe for Dwyane Wade. He wore the shoe during a breakout NBA season where he led the Miami HEAT to their first-ever NBA championship and recorded the third highest scoring average in the NBA Finals with 34.7 points per game.

The WADE 1 features “.08” displayed on the inner heel to reflect two game-winning shots in his first two NBA season seasons.  His number “3” is shown on the shoelace eyelets and his name appears on the back and top of the shoe.  Functionally, the shoe enables Wade to play at the top of his game with a Foot Strike Management System, internal sock liner and heel stabilizers.

The WADE 1 will be available on Friday, April 10, exclusively at Champs Sports for MSRP $90. It will be available in the original, black/white/red on-court colorway. Champs Sports will support the launch with point-of-sale displays at locations across the country.

If you missed these the first time around now is your chance you grab up a pair or two. As of a few minutes ago these aren't up at Champs Sports website yet.  Happy Hunting!

Applying at MaGalls Industries Global + Plus Dwyane Wade says "Coommee OOOOOOOnnnnn!"

For the past year I've been working as a substitute teacher and it's been a crazy, nothing Kenny Powers worthy though.  From the start this was not a job that I was long for, it's just not fulfilling my appetite.  I have a hunger to do more with my life. I also want to express a real taste for the meaningful and important areas of life.  All of this is to say that I've found the right mix of ingredients for a new career path.  Normally you fill out an application for a job, but this is such a hearty position I really want to publicly announce my interest.  Today I am announcing my intentions to join MaGalls Industries Global in the position of Food Tester.

You might be asking, why would you want to move to New York just to be a Food Tester?  For one simple reason, I want to work for Charles Charles MaGalls, aka this guy.

Learn more at the website for MaGalls Industries Global.  There are plenty of other postions currently open, such as Systems Systemizer, Typesetter, and Drippings Specialist.  Charles Charles MaGalls has also issued an interesting challenge to Dwyane Wade, a 1-on-1 game.  He wants to play Mr. Wade to10 by 1 gotta win by 2.  Find Charles Charles MaGalls on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube to follow his quest to take on Dwyane Wade

55 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assist, Da-Dang.  Regardless of who actually wins the award, I believe that Dwyane Wade should be the MVP.  I'll be up front and honest about it, I am biased.  I am a Dwyane Wade fan, and I dislike LeBron James and Kobe Bryant, as baseketball players.  This much I know, Dwyane Wade has better averages when looking at all of the major categories and Miami has the largest increase in wins from last year to this year.  Miami is plus 27 wins with two to play.  Granted Cleveland has improved by 20 wins with two to play.

PPG       Reb        Assist      Steal       Blocks        FG %
Wade          30.2       5.0          7.5          2.2           1.3            49.1%
James          28.3       7.6          7.3          1.7           1.2            48.9%
Kobe          27.0        5.3          4.9          1.5           0.5            46.7%

Wade leads in all of these major stats except rebounds. However, I certianly understand why LeBron will win, and it's not like these stats aren't close.  That being said, if Dwyane doesn't finish 2nd in voting then the whole thing is a joke.  This is the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, not the Most Valuable Player on the Team with the Best Record (MVPTBR) award.  Anyway, you've got to love the great performances that these super stars have had all year long and it will be a lot of fun to see how this all plays out.

Wow, this is the longest post I've done in quite some time, hopefully it will help to make up for the lack of content last week.  Thanks for checking out the blog!

Converse gives some love to UNC

Hi all, I am coming live from sunny warm freezing Lexington, KY.  Even the cold temperatures can't cool the fire that was built with the announcement of a new head coach at Kentucky.  By all accounts it's been wild few days with players de-committing and committing.  However, everyone is still excited about the future of UK basketball.

Speaking of UK basketball, we're feeling the heat from North Carolina.  They recently passed UK for all time NCAA tournament wins and moved closer to total national championships.  Now that the dust is all kicked up with UNC tournament run we'll have to wait to see who commits where and who goes pro.  So when all of the dust settles UK and UNC will be racing to be the first university with 2000 wins.  Right now UK as 1988 and UNC stands at 1984.  This race should be over by next season and I can't wait to see how it plays out.

Now how did Converse give some love to UNC, well check out 64Fingers.com for your answer.  I meant to link this micro-site earlier but I just lost track of time.  Enjoy and thanks for checking out The Converse Blog.

'S Friday Flashback: Converse ECO shoes.

If you couldn't figure out, the whole Dwyane Wade to wear chucks was a very bad attempt at a April Fools joke.  Oh well maybe I fooled one or two you out there.  Now onto the Friday Flashback.

A few years ago Converse had a line of trail shoes going by the name of Converse ECO.  I actually had a pair of these in a different colorway.  These shoes were build tough, and wore them while helping to build an outdoor classroom in my high school biology class.  In fact I would still probably be able to wear them had I not been an idiot and tried to put them on while they were still tied.  I know we all do it, but we really shouldn't.  I messed up the heel cap and now sometime sharp sticks out and attacks my heel.  Oh well, I am still holding out hope to find a pair on the eBay someday.

Well that's it for today, I am off on spring break next week but I'll try my best to post something.  Thanks for checking out the blog! Enjoy the Final Four.

'S Weapon Wednesday: Plus Dwyane Wade to play in Chucks tonight.

Sorry for the later post today. I've been enjoying Coach Calipari Day here in Kentucky. If you haven't heard, Calipari accepted UK's offer of 8 years and 31 million to coach the Wildcats. It's a great day to be a UK fan that's for sure. I am so fired up for next season, but I am even more excited for Football season that really kicks off today with the first Spring practice.

Anyway, you don't come here for UK sports, so lets get going with today's Weapon Wednesday. These Weapons just popped up on TaoBao and are one of the better Chinese exclusive Weapon's I've seen in a while.

There is a lot going on with these shoes but I am sucker for Neon Yellow and Teal on anything so I am digging these.  Not really a fan black as a main color for a shoe, but it really helps to bring out the colors I mentioned above so it works really well here.

Some late breaking news, I just got word that Dwyane Wade will be wearing Chuck Taylor All Stars tonight, at least to start the game.  From what I've heard Dwyane Wade lost some kind of wager with Udonis Haslem and whoever lost had to wear some Chucks in tonight's game.  Hopefully I can post up some pictures tomorrow.

Thanks for checking out the Converse blog and Happy New Month!
