'S Weapon Wednesday: The Weapon is up at ConverseOne

Finally it is here, the Converse Weapon is up and waiting for you at ConverseOne. I say finally because it was first previewed way back when the Pro Leather was put up at ConverseOne. By the way you can't find the Pro Leather's on ConverseOne anymore, I hope they aren't gone for good because they were great. But that's another rant for another day. Today is all about the Weapon, which currently is only available in the Hi version. I've got a pair coming my way, but I thought I'd go ahead and post some of the designs I came up with.

The available colors are limited, especially apart from the ankle, Y bar, and laces.  What the Weapon lacks in color options it makes up for that in the personal ID section.  For the Weapons you get a whopping 15 characters for you to personalize.  Here are some that I designed with the finals in mind and some of my favorite colleges.

Now you can Choose your own Weapon!  Thanks for checking out the blog!  Remember to vote we're in the last day of the current poll!

'S Weapon Wednesday: New Weapresent Shirts...from Germany.

It was near this time last year that Converse first introduced the world to the word Weapresent.  A combination on the words Weapon and Represent.  Some simple shirts were produced and given out to fans during the finals between Boston and L.A.  Now straight from ebay.de, that would be eBay Germany, we have some new Weapresent shirts.  The first one is a purple Weapresent Los Angeles, then there are three versions of the Weapresent New York shirts.  They match the New York colorway of the Weapon 86.

I am not sure if these will release here, but they should.  Maybe they'll find their way on eBay America.  Either way, thanks for checking out the blog, don't forget to vote and follow along on Twitter.

'S Weapon Wednesday: Weapon 86 Box-o-awesome.

For the brief time that I watched the NBA while Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were playing, I was always a Larry Bird fan.  That's not to say that I didn't like Magic Johnson, who knows maybe it was the extra year that Larry played.  Despite my preference in players though, I had a stronger preference in which Weapon colorway I loved.  I am not sure why I loved the Purple and Gold Weapons, I just know that I did.  Part of the reason could be that my father never liked black shoes, therefore I never got black shoes growing up.  Anyway, every time a new batch of the Weapons have been released, I've always gone after Magic's colorway.  So you can imagine the thrill I got when a fresh box from Converse showed up on Monday.

I was really trying to get a shot that showed you how clean the purple suede is, but no matter how many pictures I take they just won't do them justice.  You really have to hold these in your hands to see how amazing they are.

I was going to get out my pair from the last time they released to show you the differences but I couldn't find them on a quick search.  However, I will tell you that these are closer to the original 1986 release and they feel amazing on your feet.  As if that wasn't enough the box also came with a fantastic t-shirt and wind breaker.  I had to alter the picture a little bit so you could see the Weapon 86 written under the shoes.  The shirt is dark ash, while the wind breaker is straight black.

Big thanks to Paul and the rest of the amazing staff over at Converse for the hook up and the continued support of The Converse Blog.  I got word from Charles Charles MaGalls that he's good for an interview with TheConverseBlog.com.  I am working on my questions right now so if there is anything you want to ask him shoot me an email at ConverseNCAA@hotmail.com.  Thanks for checking out the site, enjoy the rest of you Wednesday!

The Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday, Weapresent your Roots and a crazy Weapon idea.

As you've probably seen or heard Converse is bringing back the Weapon in 2009. It's set to be a big year for the Weapon, with new colorways and even a place at ConverseOne.com so you can customize your own Weapon. I hadn't shown any pics of the new Weapon yet, but I thought I'd bust out the most classic pair for a view today. I even saw a few websites, like Dazed Digital, that this new group of Weapons will be joined with a new tag line, Weapresent your Roots. I can only hope that there will be new Weapresent shirts for sale to match the shoes.
All of this talk about the Weapon got me thinking the other day, which is dangerous. Anyway, I was thinking that an updated Weapon would make a pretty nice performance shoe. Some basic Weapon details have been used before in the Converse Legend and more recently in the Converse Loaded Weapon. A shoe that came out the same year Converse signed Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Kirk Hinrich, and others. However in recent years we've seen Adidas produce a updated Pro-Model every season and of course there was the Nike Air Force 25 from a few years ago, which should remind everyone that sometimes less is more.

While it wouldn't be a completely original idea, I think it would be interesting to see how strong a reaction you would receive from an updated Weapon. Back in 1996 when the Converse All Star 2000 released, there was a tremendous response. People knew and trusted the Chuck Taylor All Star name and ankle patch, now I think people, (coaches) have the same respect for the Weapon. They grew up watching Magic, Bird and many other NBA players and college teams rocking the Weapon.

It would also be a good opportunity to introduce a new technology or continue using the Converse Suspend Technology in the new Wade 4. It would also be a good opportunity to get Magic Johnson and Larry Bird back in the fold. I can see the commercial now, you get Larry to drive up to Magic's house with a group of NBA players and they could join some NBA players with Magic for quick pick up game.

Oh well, just a crazy idea I wanted to share with everyone, either way look for the Weapon 86 coming in 2009. Hopefully I'll have some more pictures soon. Thanks for stopping and checking out the blog.

The Converse Blog: Converse Mini Websites.

Good Friday morning to you all. I am in a little bit of a time crunch this morning because I am helping some family friends move. So instead of a Flashback this Friday, I am going to point you to a new set of Converse mini website. There are 13 of the mini websites, well 14 if you count the index page.

To start your journey visit This is The Index Page. This will take you to the index page, as you probably figured out. From there you can make your selection in a scrolling screen of websites.

There are two basketball centered websites, the first is Marquette Will Be Back. When you go to this page you will see a count down that leads up to the first day of the 2009 NCAA Basketball Tournament. If you click on the date it will take you to a wikipedia page for the event. If you click on We Are Marquette, you will be taken to Marquette's website.

The other page is Weapresent.com, which is a combination of the two Weapresent shirts from the finals. There isn't much to this site, but there doesn't really need to be. Less is more and this site says it all. These shirts would be great on Converse One, I really want one that Says Weapresent The Converse Blog.

My favorite of the websites is You Should Do It Now. You should watch this once a day, at least. I won't explain, you just have to experience it.

Well that's it for today, take care and have fun this weekend. Thanks for stopping in and I'll see you on Monday.

The Converse Blog's Weapresent Weapon Wednesday!

Welcome to the Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday. Today is all about Weapresenting. I mentioned last Thursday about the Weapresent Boston T-shirts, well thanks to Paul, one the fine people at Converse I have some shirts to Weapresent to you today. Oh, before we get to the goods, go check out CelticsBlog.com, they have this awesome Weapresent banner.

Below are the two Weapresent Boston shirts, the white shirt is sort of distressed and extremely soft, very nice. They also have the Chevron and Star on the back of the shirt as you will see below. After that you'll see the Green Weapresent Boston Shirt.

Also I just found a picture of the Weapresent Los Angeles shirt from KLAC's website.

Even more Weapresent goodness below. In the recent press kit on the "My Drive Thru" song, they have profiles from some other recording artist, this shot features Chad Hugo of N.E.R.D., Kid Sister, and Frank Carter from Gallows. It is in this shot that Chad Hugo is wearing a Weapresent Virginia Beach shirt, very cool. Hopefully this means more Weapresenting past the finals.

Well that's it for today, thanks for stopping in and please remember to vote on your way out. Derrick Rose is starting to pull ahead of Beasley and Mayo. I am off to the Ichthus Music festival tomorrow so I may or may not be able to post on Friday, or I may post tomorrow before I leave. You'll just have to come and see.

The Converse Blog: Weapresent Boston T-shirt NBA Finals

So I am sitting at my friends house watching the game, enjoying myself rooting for the Celtics. Then the ball goes out of bounds and ABC shows the stands for a split second. Out of the corner of my eye...is that....it sure looked like a....YES!!!!

So I ran home to get online to see if I could find out for sure, and thanks to getty images I can bring you a solid picture of the Weapresent Boston t-shirt. It features the Converse Weapon in the classic Boston Celtics colorway.

I sure hope one these shows up on eBay because I need one in my life. I can only assume that there will be a Weapresent LA t-shirt too.
