The Converse x The Mentalist

I love eBay. Say what you will about what it's done for the shoe "game," but all I know is that it's aloud me to get shoes I know I'd get otherwise.  Take these Chucks below, they're the Red John Chucks.  Red John is the unseen character in the CBS hit show "The Mentalist."  Converse worked with the stars of the show to create a unique Red John pair of Chucks for the cast and crew as a special thank you for their work on the 2nd season.  I was extremely lucky to get these on eBay.  I was able to get a truly unique and limited item that I wouldn't have been able to get without eBay.

Above you see a picture of the show's star Simon Baker and the Red John logo on the wall.  Red John leaves the logo behind every crime scene.

'S Weapon Wednesday: New Weapresent Shirts...from Germany.

It was near this time last year that Converse first introduced the world to the word Weapresent.  A combination on the words Weapon and Represent.  Some simple shirts were produced and given out to fans during the finals between Boston and L.A.  Now straight from ebay.de, that would be eBay Germany, we have some new Weapresent shirts.  The first one is a purple Weapresent Los Angeles, then there are three versions of the Weapresent New York shirts.  They match the New York colorway of the Weapon 86.

I am not sure if these will release here, but they should.  Maybe they'll find their way on eBay America.  Either way, thanks for checking out the blog, don't forget to vote and follow along on Twitter.

The Converse Blog: First Look at the Converse Wolf

I've sat on these pictures for a few weeks now. They came from an auction on TaoBao. These retro running shoes will be coming out this fall. According to the catalog they will come in three colorways Olive/Lemon Curry, Fossil/Major Brown, and as pictured below Beluga/Petit Four. They sure don't make color names like they used to. Either way, I've seen all three in the catalog and they're all amazing. I am really geeked about these shoes. I am still wearing my grey suede Phaeton IV that I snagged at Finishline. Still looking for more pairs on eBay, but I haven't had luck.

Well I hope you enjoyed the first look at the Converse Wolf. Look for them in June of this year. Also I want to remind you all of the poll. There are only a few days left to vote, and it looks like the real race is for second place. Brandon Roy has closed the gap on Chris Bosh. I am not wanting to influence the vote, but I just found that interesting. Thank you all for coming to the Converse Blog and enjoy your Monday!

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: Acropolis

Sometimes I plan out these posts well in advance, and by well I mean the day before. Other times I don't, like today. I couldn't really figure out which shoe to feature today. Then last night as I was looking on eBay I found the Acropolis. The Acropolis, when most people see this word they think of the Acropolis of Athens. According to Wikipedia, Acropolis literally means "high city".

So who wore the "high city", why not the person that used to get the highest in The City. That's right, Mr. Latrell Sprewell. This isn't the choke happy, I've got a family to feed, Sprewell. This is the fresh face, Converse wearing, young high flying player for the Warriors.

That's right, these were Cons and they had React. It really doesn't get any better than that.

I found these on an eBay Auction, here. Thank you username jerseys4thewin, for the pics. Thanks for checking out the blog, keep voting in the poll and tell all kinds of people about the blog, please! Enjoy All Star weekend!

The Converse Blog: Pro Leather Canvas High

Happy Monday! Today I've got a real treat, the Converse Pro Leather Canvas. Granted that sound really weird to say, you know the whole leather/canvas thing. There are obvious difference between them, but I can't think of another way to describe it. They are canvas with Chucks midsole and outsole, but with a canvas Pro Leather designed upper. Confused yet? Me too, so maybe I should just get to the pics.

A few years ago there were Canvas Weapons in much of the same fashion. Here are some more samples below. These pics have sample tags on them so I am not sure if they will actually be releasing. I found them on eBay.de, but the auction has since ended so I can't link to it.

There is also a set of Pro Team Canvas shoes that I'll be posting sometime soon. Thanks for checking out the blog, don't forget to vote there are only a few days left.

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: World Class Trainer

Before we get to it today, I've got to tell you something important. You have to watch Cloverfield, if you miss this movie you're crazy. Drop all of your plans for the night and go watch this movie. Now, The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: World Class Trainer.

The Converse World Class Trainers are from the 70's when Eltra owned Converse. I would love to see these re-issued by Converse as the really seem to stick out from other running/training shoes of that era. I love the blocking between the white-color-white on the sides of the shoes. Also the Chevron for this model is pretty unique, it gets wider the further out it goes. I've seen this on a few models, mostly from this era.

I got these pictures from ebay and Yahoo Auctions Japan. Also I must admit while watching Andy Roddick get tossed from another grand slam event, I realized that I left Tennis off of the pole at the top of the page. I went to change it, but since there are votes on it I couldn't change it. So if you're wondering, place Tennis in the other category. Thanks for checking out the Blog and don't forget to vote.

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: Pandemonium

It's been a few Fridays since there has actually been a flashback. Some of that comes from lack of preparation and most of it comes from my image library being gone. Right off the top of my head I've got four other topics I could bring up, and more if I really thought about it. However I think it's important to return to some normalcy and post a flashback. The other stuff can wait until later, who knows with no Kentucky or Dolphins games to watch this weekend I might even get around to posting something on Saturday or Sunday.

How did you like that, I am getting all high tech and stuff. That was just a test I'll work on something better. Alright on to today's Flashback. Today's shoe comes from the mid 90's my guess is sometimes around 1994. It features the Chevron in the star logo, along with React juice.

You just don't get shoes like this anymore. You just have to love the 90's and how crazy the designs got. Granted this black/black/purple colorway is not that crazy, the actually design is very loud. From this picture below you can see that this was a shoe for Kevin Johnson.

From the picture of the outsole you can see the React Juice in the heel and in the forefoot. This is the similar React heel found in the Run n Slams that KJ made famous.

Well I wish I knew more about these, but I honestly when I saw them on Ebay it was the first time I had ever seen them. So if you know anymore about them please let me know, I'd also like to find some more colorways too. I miss React something fierce and I hope someday it will return. Regardless we just have to enjoy the gems of the past and embrace the future. Thanks for stopping by and if you've got a second please click on ad on your way out, I'd really appreciate it.

TAOBAO is your friend.

Sometimes searching eBay isn't enough. When I would get bored with eBay I used to go and search at http://www.ebay.de/, yes it's still eBay but a varied selection. Then there are times when I just really need to see something new. For a sneaker freak like myself it's kind of like a child knowing where their parents hide the Christmas gifts. So for when I feel really mischievous I go and search http://www.taobao.com/ for some Converse sample shoes that I haven't made it here yet. Thanks to "Me Too" and the other user of the "The First School" sneaker.

Tonight I found something really interesting. Two colorways of the soon to be release Heatseeker.

These are the white/black colorway.

Now for the grand prize. I have never seen these before, I am not sure how I feel about them yet. Let me know what you think.
