Converse Vintage Toboggan ( Beanie depending on what part of the country your from)

As a any respectable southern man knows, a knit cap you wear in the winter is called a toboggan.  For the rest of country I think they call them beanies, which makes me laugh every time I think about it.  Anyway, i found this vintage Converse knit cap while searing around the Internets.

If you saw on Twitter, Maurice Evans broke out the Converse Drop Step last night, which is the shoe that Acie Law wore in Golden State at the beginning of season.  Look out for more of the Converse Drop Step hopefully soon.  Don't forget to follow along on twitter @TheConverseBlog

'S Weapon Wednesday: Kyle Korver in White/Green/Black Weapon EVO.

Once I knew that the Jazz would be rocking throwback jerseys this year I was looking forward to the interesting colorway Converse would cook up for Korver. And while I think it would be better to have the yellow midsole, I can't complain with the execution. I particularly love the solid green toe cap area which is different than any of the other Weapon EVO colorways i've seen.

Well that's it for tody, check back Friday for a Friday Flashback.  Don't forget to follow along on twitter @TheConverseBlog

SOOOOO That happened. aka Converse Triumph Mid

Well last week came and went and I didn't post anything. Most of that had to deal with a really important group of observations at school. Good news, I'm a much better teacher than I was in the beginning of the year! Bad news, if I don't my internship portfolio together properly I'll fail and be out a job, ouch. So I apologize for the lack of content I was completely tied up.

So I'm going to try and play a little catch up.  Below is the Converse Triumph which is the first of the previously branded Wade shoes that was to come out this year.  It was originally going to be a Team shoe for 2009 but when Nike switched Wade over the shoes were dropped.  Well until now, you can find this White/White colorway and a Black/White colorway at Eastbay.com.

These might be the last shoe to feature the Converse Suspend system that was used in the Wade 4.  I need your help on something...I'm trying to find some high schools that wear Converse this season.  I want to give them some love on the blog, of course I would need to contact the schools and get permission.  So if you know of any schools please shoot me an email at ConverseNCAA@hotmail.com.

Also I've been doing a recap of Converse in the NBA on twitter.  I'm calling it the The First School Stats, i'll give you all the stats of the players wearing Converse in the NBA.  So follow along on twitter.com @TheConverseBlog

Converse Chuck Taylor Split Mid

Is there anything you can't do with a Chuck Taylor?  I am beginning to think that the answer is no.  2010 brings another new interpretation of the worlds most popular shoe.  Below is the Converse Split Mid, which plays off of the successful double upper era of Chucks.  Besides the obvious split upper, you will also notice that these come in a mid top.   The split comes just after the second eyelet going from the bottom up.

You can find these rigth now at Zappos.com, for only $50 they're just a little more than a normal pair of  Chucks with a whole new flavor.  Thanks for checking out the blog, follow along @TheConverseBlog

Converse (Product) Red I Heart Chucks

Converse continues their (Product) Red line with the Converse (PRODUCT) RED I Heart ______.  I really love this concept because they give a space to write on your Chucks...although it's not like you really needed permission to write all over them anyway.

Check them out at Covnerse.com....speaking of Converse I made a trip to Dawsonville, GA this weekend to hit up the Converse store.  I picked up the Black/Gold/Red CONS ERX 300 and they are fantastic in person.  I also picked up another pair of the classic White/Navy EVO Pro II.  Thanks for checking out the blog, come back often and leave your comments.  For quick hits follow along on twitter @TheConverseBlog

Converse Basketball Brand Marketing Sr Manager

I don't normally post job positions at Converse, but this one has got me pretty fired up.  As you can see from the title, the job is Converse Basketball Brand Marketing Senior Manager.  Here is brief discription from the job posting....

Be the Converse Basketball visionary. Know the why's, where's and how's of Converse Basketball and how they differ from other brands'. We are in Basketball for reasons utterly unlike the reasons others brands are in Basketball: Know and refine those reasons, and build strategies and tactics off of them. Assure that everything we do in Basketball we do because of its Converse-ness, and that the Basketball-ness of what we do feels Converse. Be the source of creative and marketing inspiration.

Inspire the Converse Basketball community.
Reignite Converse Basketball.

Converse Basketball has existed since sometime between 1910 and 1920. For the vast majority of that time, it was the supreme brand in the game, dominant as few brands have ever been in any sport. That dominance didn't end that long ago, but it isn't coming back. What can come back is Converse's voice within the game: Individualistic, idiosyncratic, wise, disruptive, attention-getting and louder than it should be. A lot of people are waiting for this to happen, and not all of them work here. (i.e. Me)  The brand needs it, but the basketball community needs it to. This job will be the catalyst for making it happen. It's not a typical marketing job; it's not the job we thought it would be a year ago; but it is a job that's existed in some form or another for almost 100 years, and it's seldom been more important.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience

Managed a team of 2 or more

If you fit the bill then apply here.

As you can imagine I'm very excited for this job posting.  As I inserted above I'm one of those people that's waiting for this to happen.  I have very high expectations with this hiring and hopefully the impacts will be seen sooner rather than later.  I've read the description a few times now and every time I get more fired up.  I'm hoping that there will be some kind of announcement when this job is filled.  Well that's it for today.  Enjoy the snow, if you have any.  Follow along on twitter @TheConverseBlog

Converse Weapon EVO Alando Tucker's Suns PE

Recently team Converse member Alando Tucker was traded from the Suns to the Timberwolves.  I am excited that Alando now has a chance to get some playing time, but I am going to really miss the wonderful Player Exclusives that come with the Suns colors.  For example, these Converse Weapon EVO's that are pictured below.  Here is a sample size 9 that Kinstor.com has posted up.

Hopefully I can get some shots of Alando's Timberwolves PE's before too long. That's it for today, thank you for checking out the blog and remember to follow along on twitter @TheConverseBlog
