Kentucky - Indiana All Star Game

Well the 2008-09 season is officially over and for the 15th time the Lakers are champions. Congratulations are in order for the fantastic job that the Lakers and Magic did in getting to the finals. While I was for the Magic, I am still just thrilled that Cleveland didn't win. However, the NBA wasn't the only basketball going on over the last few days. Besides the WNBA, the Kentucky and Indiana All Stars took the floor for their annual two game series.

The boys from the Hoosier state won both games but by all accounts it was a great weekend of All Star basketball. Below are three pictures from the game. As you will notice the Kentucky All Stars wore the Converse Wade Slash, which is why they're getting some love from The Converse Blog.

That's it for today, thanks for checking out the blog and voting in the poll.  Check us out at Twitter too!

Playoff Frustration: PEAK makes Fake Converse.

Ever since round 2 of the playoffs started I've been really frustrated by a specific situation.  It bothers me that a company that makes fake Converse shoes has more players left in the playoffs than Converse does.  I am talking about the Chinese brand PEAK.  The shoe of choice for Jason Kidd, Ron Artest, Shane Battier, and according to their website and his Sasha Vujacic.  Sasha has been wearing the Kobe IV recently so I am not sure what's going on there.  If you include Darnell Jackson from Cleveland and Sonny Weems from Denever that brings the PEAK total up ot 6.  That's 6 NBA players in the second round of the playoffs compared to Maurice Evans and Acie Law for Converse. Why does this particular situation frustrate me so much?  It's simple really, PEAK makes Fake Converse shoes. Below are pictures of PEAK made fake Converse Wade 3.0, 2.0, and Converse 099.  So right now in the playoffs there are 3 times as many players wearing a brand that makes fake Converse compared to players that actually wear Converse.

They also make Fake Adidas and Reebok shoes too.

This post is about the fact that a brand that makes fake shoes can get play in the NBA. It just so happens that they have more players in the 2nd round of the playoffs than Converse does.  Converse still has more endorsers in the NBA than PEAK, although the gap is cloesing.  It's not all about quanity though, often times it has more to do with quality and I'd take Dwyane Wade, Elton Brand, or Jameer Nelson over anyone wearing PEAK right now.  I firmly believe that with a new cushioning technology and the Weapon EVO coming next season that Converse will increase the quanity and quality of endorers that they have.

Don't forget to vote on the new poll and thanks for checking out the Converse Blog.

Converse Wade 1 Reissued!

Five-time NBA All-Star and 2006 NBA Finals MVP Dwyane Wade is currently having the best regular season of his career and is in consideration to receive his first-ever season NBA MVP award. The Miami HEAT Guard is currently leading the league in scoring (30.2 ppg), and registers in the top ten in assists (8th – 7.5 apg) and steals (2nd – 2.19 spg). He will also become the first player in NBA history to have 500 assists, 100 steals and 100 blocked shots in a season (NOTE: The NBA officially began to keep track of steals and blocks in the 1973-74 season).

To celebrate this historic season, Converse will reissue a limited amount of the WADE 1. The WADE 1 was first launched before the 2005-06 NBA season and was the first-ever signature shoe for Dwyane Wade. He wore the shoe during a breakout NBA season where he led the Miami HEAT to their first-ever NBA championship and recorded the third highest scoring average in the NBA Finals with 34.7 points per game.

The WADE 1 features “.08” displayed on the inner heel to reflect two game-winning shots in his first two NBA season seasons.  His number “3” is shown on the shoelace eyelets and his name appears on the back and top of the shoe.  Functionally, the shoe enables Wade to play at the top of his game with a Foot Strike Management System, internal sock liner and heel stabilizers.

The WADE 1 will be available on Friday, April 10, exclusively at Champs Sports for MSRP $90. It will be available in the original, black/white/red on-court colorway. Champs Sports will support the launch with point-of-sale displays at locations across the country.

If you missed these the first time around now is your chance you grab up a pair or two. As of a few minutes ago these aren't up at Champs Sports website yet.  Happy Hunting!

Applying at MaGalls Industries Global + Plus Dwyane Wade says "Coommee OOOOOOOnnnnn!"

For the past year I've been working as a substitute teacher and it's been a crazy, nothing Kenny Powers worthy though.  From the start this was not a job that I was long for, it's just not fulfilling my appetite.  I have a hunger to do more with my life. I also want to express a real taste for the meaningful and important areas of life.  All of this is to say that I've found the right mix of ingredients for a new career path.  Normally you fill out an application for a job, but this is such a hearty position I really want to publicly announce my interest.  Today I am announcing my intentions to join MaGalls Industries Global in the position of Food Tester.

You might be asking, why would you want to move to New York just to be a Food Tester?  For one simple reason, I want to work for Charles Charles MaGalls, aka this guy.

Learn more at the website for MaGalls Industries Global.  There are plenty of other postions currently open, such as Systems Systemizer, Typesetter, and Drippings Specialist.  Charles Charles MaGalls has also issued an interesting challenge to Dwyane Wade, a 1-on-1 game.  He wants to play Mr. Wade to10 by 1 gotta win by 2.  Find Charles Charles MaGalls on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube to follow his quest to take on Dwyane Wade

55 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assist, Da-Dang.  Regardless of who actually wins the award, I believe that Dwyane Wade should be the MVP.  I'll be up front and honest about it, I am biased.  I am a Dwyane Wade fan, and I dislike LeBron James and Kobe Bryant, as baseketball players.  This much I know, Dwyane Wade has better averages when looking at all of the major categories and Miami has the largest increase in wins from last year to this year.  Miami is plus 27 wins with two to play.  Granted Cleveland has improved by 20 wins with two to play.

PPG       Reb        Assist      Steal       Blocks        FG %
Wade          30.2       5.0          7.5          2.2           1.3            49.1%
James          28.3       7.6          7.3          1.7           1.2            48.9%
Kobe          27.0        5.3          4.9          1.5           0.5            46.7%

Wade leads in all of these major stats except rebounds. However, I certianly understand why LeBron will win, and it's not like these stats aren't close.  That being said, if Dwyane doesn't finish 2nd in voting then the whole thing is a joke.  This is the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, not the Most Valuable Player on the Team with the Best Record (MVPTBR) award.  Anyway, you've got to love the great performances that these super stars have had all year long and it will be a lot of fun to see how this all plays out.

Wow, this is the longest post I've done in quite some time, hopefully it will help to make up for the lack of content last week.  Thanks for checking out the blog!
