The Converse Blog: NBA Shots

Hello world, today I get to kill two birds with one stone. Don't worry these are game birds I intent to eat them later. I've been meaning to post up some pictures of the Converse roster in action. Which works out really well today because I've been a real slacker and have put off all kinds of work until today. Something about backing myself into a corner that I just can't get over. Anyway lets just get right to it. I am not for sure, but most of the pictures they come from Yahoo sports.
Below you will see Orien Greene of the Kings wearing the black/black colorway of the 099
Below you see Hawks guard Acie Law IV moving past Rondo wearing a player exclusive 099 colorway in White/Navy/Red.
Below is a shot of Udonis Haslem probably after one of his offensive rebounds, wearing the Black/Red colorway of the 099.

In the left side of this picture you will see Alando Tucker of the Suns, the rookie out of Wisconsin is rocking a player exclusive colorway of the 099. The colorway seems to be black/white/Purple/Orange. Let me just say I've seen some other colorways he's worn and I just love that Converse has a Suns player again.

Below is Jameer Nelson wearing a player exclusive black/royal colorway of the 099.

In this pic, Kirk Hinrich is guarding Andre Miler, both wearing the 099 in white/black/red and black/red colorways.

Kyle Korver wearing the White/Black/Red colorway of the 099

Andre Miller rocking the black/red colorway of the 099

Maurice Evans of the Lakers is shown here wearing a player exclusive white/black/gold colorway of the 099.

In the last shot here you will see Maurice Evans wearing a white/purple/gold colorway of the Hops, this will be the shoe everyone will wear starting in January.

They had a big press release packet come out yesterday so I am going to raid that for content soon, but I had all of this pics saved so I thought I'd go ahead and get them out to you. Thanks for show up today, come back on Friday for some more Converse goodness.

The Converse Blog: Articles

Good Monday to you all. I can't stay long today I thinking I've got something called reading and math homework to do. But I did find out that I'll be getting my computer back soon so hopefully I can pick it up again. For today I am going to talk a little about two recent articles I've read.

The first, found here, is about ZAAZ. ZAAZ is a web-agency, excuse me a full service web-agency. They were awarded the Communication Arts "Interactive Annual 13" for their design of Converse.com. The Communication Arts Interactive Design Competition is known as the most prestigious design competition for interactive media.

You can read more about it in the article, but I found this to be pretty interesting. I like the Converse site, it's pretty easy to navigate and find what you're looking for. I got to looking and ZAAZ does the websites for Nike, Sony, Starbucks, Microsoft, eBay, Ford, and Cingular just to name a few. For them to get an award for the Converse site when they have a roster as impressive as the one above, now that's pretty tight.

The second article is about Liquefied Natural Gas. If you're like me, or even if you're not, chances are you've never heard of liquefied natural gas. Well someone actually has heard of liquefied natural gas, and I am not talking about the liquefied natural gas people. It was recently announced that Nike and Converse will be switching a significant portion of their Los Angeles area harbor drayage fleet from diesel to new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) fueled vehicles.
Nike estimates the new LNG trucks will emit 18 percent less CO2, 88 percent less NOx and 96 percent less particulate matter per mile when compared to their diesel counterparts.
Pretty cool stuff here, I don't understand most of the science behind it though, you can read the rest of the article here.

I hated to no have any pictures on here, so I'll leave you with a shot of the Converse clad Marquette in action. Thanks for checking out the blog, keep coming back and leaving comments and all that good stuff.

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: Converse All Star II

Rejoice, we've made it through another week, well at least I have I am not sure about you. Lots of a great games last night Bulls vs Pistons was a great start, then you've got U of L vs West Virginia which turned out to be a better game that I thought. Then to cap things off the Mavs and Warriors faced off, which I have to admit I just couldn't stay up for.

Oh before I get to the Flashback today I want to give a shout out to the Apples & Pears Blog. Tanya rocked out a feature on Sneaker Collectors and gave me a little love, so please click through and check it out.

The Converse All Star II comes from late 70's, I am pretty sure 1979 actually. As you can see from the box it was a shoe released during the Eltra Era.
While there a certainly difference between the Chuck Taylor All Star and the All Star II, the outsole remains the same. There is just something about this pattern that works. As you will see in the pics below the Chuck Taylor patch is gone and replaced by the Chevron and Star. Also new is the heel tab featuring the Star in a Square logo. Also gone is the Heel plate the reads "All Star". In a lot of ways, to me this is just a Canvas version of the Pro Leather, you know without the leather.
According to WWW.Sneakers.Pair.com, where these White/Red pics came from, they only came in these two colors
Well I can't speak much more on these since I don't have a pair myself, but I will say that these were probably the last Canvas shoes worn in the NBA. Does anyone know who that player was? I'll give you a hint it was in the 1980 season, not much of a hint thought. Anyway thanks for checking out the site, hits have been going up over the last week, which is awesome, please keep coming back and telling your friends.

The Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday

In light of yesterdays post of the next colorway of the Wade 3, I'll continue the block fade colorway with today's Weapon. I got these pics from TaoBao but I can't remember who the user was that posted these. As you will see the blocking goes from White in toe cap, Grey in the mid area, and black in the heel, enjoy.

Well that's it for today I've got a lot of home work and rest up for the beat down that the Spurs are going to take from the Heat tonight....OK well I am just glad I don' bet.

The Converse Blog: Wade 3 Grey/Black/Red Colorway

Well it's a rare Tuesday morning post, while I should be doing some last minute studying for my exam today on the McDonaldization of the Society, I had to get some pictures out to everyone. I've been sitting on these for a few weeks now, but with this colorway being shown in the latest Slam and now going up at Finishline I thought I would post them.
This is by far my favorite colorway of the Wade 3 that I've seen. It releases Dec. 1 and will retail for 99.99, which is divisible by 3....ok so I am a math dork anyway. To me this shows a lot of potential for what this shoe could be. Aight well I've got to go to class so everyone else have fun.

The Converse Blog

So I got lazy this weekend and did oh, pretty much nothing. Well I did go see American Gangster, which if you haven't seen you should. All of this to say that I hyped a weekend post but I dropped the ball. Speaking of dropping the ball, Bulls, Heat, and Warriors. Three playoff teams starting 0-3, that's not good.

Well I should probably really get down to business today I've got a lot to get to. Not long ago Claude Johnson, who is the Founder & President of Black Fives, Inc. Posted in the comments here about the The Converse Century Black Fives collection. Soon after that sneaker freaker posted more pics and info from the pack. The pics come from sneaker freaker, but check Claude's blog for more updates.
Below you see a picture of all three shoes, from left to right you see the Converse Revolution, Converse, Rens All Star, and the Pro Leather.

The second piece of news today is about a new hire for Converse, it was reported by Ad Week that Geoff Cottrill has been named as Chief Marketing Officer. According to the article Cottrill had been vp, global entertainment at Starbucks since August 2005. You can read more about the hire over at Adweek.

Well I was just talking to my roommate and it turns out I've got more homework than I thought I had so I am going to have to go ahead and call it for today, but come back Wednesday for more. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your Mondays, they only happen once a week.

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: Pandemonium

It's been a few Fridays since there has actually been a flashback. Some of that comes from lack of preparation and most of it comes from my image library being gone. Right off the top of my head I've got four other topics I could bring up, and more if I really thought about it. However I think it's important to return to some normalcy and post a flashback. The other stuff can wait until later, who knows with no Kentucky or Dolphins games to watch this weekend I might even get around to posting something on Saturday or Sunday.

How did you like that, I am getting all high tech and stuff. That was just a test I'll work on something better. Alright on to today's Flashback. Today's shoe comes from the mid 90's my guess is sometimes around 1994. It features the Chevron in the star logo, along with React juice.

You just don't get shoes like this anymore. You just have to love the 90's and how crazy the designs got. Granted this black/black/purple colorway is not that crazy, the actually design is very loud. From this picture below you can see that this was a shoe for Kevin Johnson.

From the picture of the outsole you can see the React Juice in the heel and in the forefoot. This is the similar React heel found in the Run n Slams that KJ made famous.

Well I wish I knew more about these, but I honestly when I saw them on Ebay it was the first time I had ever seen them. So if you know anymore about them please let me know, I'd also like to find some more colorways too. I miss React something fierce and I hope someday it will return. Regardless we just have to enjoy the gems of the past and embrace the future. Thanks for stopping by and if you've got a second please click on ad on your way out, I'd really appreciate it.
