The Converse Blog's Friday Flashforward: Converse Wade Slash

Happy Friday, and welcome to the Converse Blog's first ever Flash Forward. Today instead of looking back into the Converse archives, I'll be looking forward to an upcoming Converse release. Soon Converse will be releasing the Converse Wade Slash the first none signature and none team Wade basketball shoe. Already this shoe has been seen on the feet of Acie Law and Alando Tucker. One of the interesting features of this shoe is the Velcro straps that connect from the tongue of the shoe to the sides. This makes for an interesting use of the Converse logo in a more functional way than just branding. The shoes are double-lasted to give that low to the ground speedy look that helped to make the Wade 1 and 1.3 so popular...well that and the guy who was wearing them.

Well that's it for today's Flash Forward. I am working on putting together a very interesting post for next week that could stretch for a few post or so. I am not for sure yet, but it should be pretty interesting...well at least I hope so.

The Converse Blog: Converse NYX Automatic

Recently these shoes, the Converse NYX Automatic showed up over at Eastbay. However, I first saw these on TaoBao about 2 or 3 months ago. To me they have a lot of similarities to the Converse Transition which was a Finishline with a mix of the Converse Assist. The main influence from the Assist appear to be in the outsole which is the same for the Converse Double Double also.

These shoes scream fast and they're very clean. They also come in a Black/Black colorway that Eastbay has too. Well that's it for today, I am off the Bowling Green for a few days and may or may not be able to post again before Friday. Check back to see, thanks checking out the blog and remember to vote on your way out.

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback Converse Energy Wave Walking Shoes (For Old People)

Converse used to make every type of shoe you could ever want, from a street hockey shoe, to fishing boots, Military issue boots, street luge shoes, and yes even old people walking shoes. Today we're going to venture into the world of mall walking and eating Werthers originals. That's right I am talking about a walking shoe powered by Converse Energy Wave technology.

There isn't a lot you can say about these shoes that the pictures don't tell you. They came in a nice White/White colorway...also I would think a black/black and a beige/beige colorways were made too. Which ever colorway you went with, you were sure to feel the extra amount of cushioning from the Energy Wave technology. That's it for today, go out and walk some this weekend! Thanks for checking out the blog and please vote on your way out today!

The Converse Blog's Weapon Wednesday: Japan Snake Skin Lakers Weapns.

Here is an interesting twist on an all-time Classic Converse. The Lakers colorway of the Weapons is seen below. However, the gold portions of the shoe have been replaced with a Gold Faux-Snakeskin pattern. This results in a darker gold and purple colorway of this Weapon. Sadly, these are only dropping in Japan.

Well that's all for today's Weapon Wednesday. Don't forget to weapresent your opinion and vote in the poll on your way out. Thanks for checking out the blog!

The Converse Blog: Olympic Dwyane Wade Team Signature Bird's Nest Edition!

As you all know Team USA took home the gold during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and if you read this blog often then you know that Dwyane Wade was rocking fresh united we rise colorways of his Wade Team Signature shoe for this year. Throughout the Olympics he wore two main colorways of the shoe, one that was released in limited numbers to the general public and another that was not released. Well recently I found picture and video evidence of a 3rd Olympic Wade Team Signature shoe and this one pays tribute to the Bird's Nest or Olympic Stadium in Beijing. Here are some pictures from a TaoBao auction and a video from StackTV featuring Michael DiTullo talking about the Wade Team Signature below.

Well that's it for today, thanks for checking out the blog and I hope to have some exciting news to share with you all soon. Stay tuned!

The Converse Blog's Friday Flashback: The Converse Stormgards

Sometimes you just can't make stuff up, you know truth can be stranger than fiction. I recently found these gems on eBay. I've seen a picture of them before, but that picture wasn't good enough to post. These however, are clear enough to show. I don't have a clue when they were made, although I assume that they released during the 70's give the nature of the Converse logo on the tag. When you look at these a few words might come to mind, ones that may or may not start with What The.... But the one word that should come to mind for everyone is the Warm.

See I told you these were crazy. Give these bad boys to John Varvatos and lets see what he can do with it. Anyway, I am out for the week. Big game this weekend between UK and Alabama so I am locked in for that one. Thanks for checking out today's Friday Flashback and don't forget to vote on your way out.

The Converse Blog: Converse at Media Day(s) Vol

Well I was holding out hoping to get some pictures of any new members of Team Converse. However, media day pictures are really slow coming out this year, I would even say painfully slow. Anyway, here is what we've got so far. Dwyane Wade below is wearing a PE version of one of his 3 team shoes this year with the Team Wade Clutch. Udonis Haslem is also pictured below, well sort of, and he is wearing a PE version of the 0100. Then you'll see Elton Brand wearing the EB1. After that everyone you see is wearing the Converse Assist in PE versions.

Well that's it for today, Hopefully I'll have more to show you soon. Thanks for checking out the blog and voting on your way out.
