The Converse Blog: 1972 Olympic Pack Converse 0100

I know it's Friday and that's supposed to me a flashback, but I couldn't sit on these any longer. I found these pics on Taobao Wednesday night and now I am bringing them to you today. As you've probably seen else where, this shoe is part of the 1972 Olympic Pack with the other two shoes being the Pro Leather Hi and Pro Leather ox. I am pretty sure this is also the first time I've shown the Converse 0100 on here. I am so excited for the 0100 it isn't even funny. Look for more colorways and makeups of the 0100 on the blog in the near future. Now lets get to the pictures.

I hope you all enjoy these shoes and if you're lucky enough to be Beijing or near the House of Hoops in NYC you can pick up a pair. Thanks for stopping into the blog and have fun watching all the Olympic goodness tonight.

The Converse Blog's Olympic Beijing Chucks from China!

If you don't know, the Olympics are right around the corner. As far as I know the only place you'll see Converse in this years Olympics are Dwyane Wade's feet. However, that hasn't stopped Converse China from taking full advantage of their Olympic situation. So far they have released four colorways of the this Beijing 2008 Chuck Ox pictured below. They come in Black, White, Yellow, Pink, and I think Red. They also have chucks with some of the Beijing mascots, but I'll get to those later on. As you can see these a normal Chuck Taylor ox up top, but when you get to the outsole that's where the magic is. Not only will you see Beijing 2008 written, but you'll also see the Olympic rings.

I'll post up some more pictures later of these Chucks and the mascot Chucks as well. Thanks for stopping in and checking out the blog. Don't forget to vote on the way out. Also I want to plug the Your Cons, Your Story idea again. I want to feature some Converse fans on this site and all I need is a picture of you wearing your favorite Converse and little write up on why you love Converse and what you want to see from Converse in the future. As soon as I get some good entries I'll post them up.

Happy Converse Century!

Well I just got in from Nashville and I wanted to post a Happy New Years post. Well actually a Happy Converse Century, as the celebration begins today. I've added a poll at the top here, I've got it set to run through the month. Converse currently makes Basketball, Cheerleading, and Skateboarding shoes. I want to know what other sport shoes you want to see them make, Running/Training, Football, Baseball, Soccer, Golf, or Other.

I want to thank everyone that has stopped by the Blog, emailed me, left comments, or spread the word about the Converse Blog. I truly hope you enjoy the new year and the Converse Century.

Best wishes to you and yours,
James Martin

Converse Century

If you're a frequent visitor to this site then you know that 2008 marks the 100th year of the brand. I've been trying to figure out what they would call this upcoming year. Converse 100 or 100 years of Converse were options I suppose, however it's looking like they will be going with something different. I was on the newly designed Converse Singapore website, and I noticed some interesting stuff.

One is a new basketball shoe shown at the beginning of the flash, it's a few shoes in but don't click on anything until you see it. The other interesting piece of information comes from the links section. Once you click there you'll notice a sign proclaiming 08 and the Converse Century.

From there I decided to get a little crafty. Turns out ConverseCentury.com is registered to Converse Inc. I've also seen part of the logo on www.conslive.com. However I can't save the picture there either. I am working on finding one I can post here. However, it does look like Converse Century will be the tag line for 2008 and the 1ooth year of Converse.

Thanks for reading and check back for pictures of the logo.

Welcome

Hi, my name is James Martin and I have an addiction.

I am addicted to Converse, and I am not talking just Chucks. Actually I only have a small number of Chucks. I have been a Converse freak for over 11 years now. But this blog is not going to be about me. Most of you that will find your way to this page know that I have set out on a mission of sorts.

2008 marks the 100th year of Converse, but currently no NCAA teams wear Converse. In fact there has not been a D-1 NCAA team in Converse since the 2000-2001 Baylor Bears. In 2003 Nike purchased Converse, since that time the brand has seen a significant resurgence in the performance basketball market. This can mostly be attributed to Dwyane Wade and fellow NBA players like Kirk Hinrich, Jameer Nelson, Andre Miller, Kyle Korver, Udonis Haslem, Jason Williams, Chris Quinn, Maurice Evans, Michael Sweetney, Orien Greene, and until this past season Chris Bosh.

I have set up a number of goals for 2008.

1. To get an NCAA team to switch to Converse

2. To get the Nike teams to wear Converse for at least one night to honor the brand.

3. To get Nike NBA players to wear Converse for at least one night to honor the brand.

4. To get as many high school teams to wear Converse for the 2007-2008 season.

At this point I realized that these goals would be better served for the beginning of the 2008-2009 seasons strictly because of time restraints.
